Foel Lwyd and Tal Y Fan. From Bwlch Y Ddeufanangelfon050420/10/2019
Reached while walking the Nuttalls route of the Northern Carneddau. After summiting Taly y Fan returned to the car over Foel Lwyd requiring a climb over a high wall but there are several protruding stones that act like a style.WAYNE ROWLETT04/08/2019
Foel Llwyd and Tal y Fan from the bwlch car park. Scrambled up through the quarries then by the annoyingly tall wall to the summit. Excellent views westwards and very wet going after all the recent rainfall.Jake99415/06/2019

On the way up Tal y Fan. Detours around high stone walls took me so close to the summit that I decided to bag it.Topographer5713/09/2018

I drove up the single track road from Tal-y-Bont through Llanbedr-y-cennin. I was unfortunately trapped between a tractor towing a trailer in front and another farmer's vehicle behind. We very slowly ascended without the opportunity to stop and check where we were going. Found myself at Bwlch-y-gaer, backtracked and on to the car park at road-end at Bwlch y Ddeufaen. Walked along the roman road past the two standing stones and on the NW and N sides of walls to Foel Lwyd. Actual highest point is on S side of wall but not far from wall where is ground is only very slightly lower. On to Tal y Fan.pwbellarby14/04/2018

Foel Lwyd and Tal y Fan from the little road head car park near the col. Plenty of stiles near the col to gain access to the better track on the seaward side of the wall. A collapsed wall section gives access to the summit of Foel Lwyd via a slight doubling back. A stile leads to the summit of Tal y Fan. This is the better viewpoint, looking over the Great Orme, Menai Strait, Puffin Island and Anglesey.Nick Down110/06/2017
After Tal y Fan. Surprisingly good path all the way from the col on N side of wall.Minto09/06/2017

Parked at small car park at head of valley. Foel Lwyd, Tal y Fan, Carnedd y Ddelw, Drum, Pen y Castell then Penygadair (east and west tops).BobHancock12/04/2017
A nice walk from Nant-y-Coed Nature reserve, with a disgracefully late start. Good path then off piste ASAP direct to Foel Lwyd up a nice grassy cwm, and a good path along the wall to Tal y Fan, with little rock steps here and there. Very wet and very windy, with a bit of horizontal sleet for good measure. Back to the col, and an instruments only descent across the moor. Good path to the path junction (cairn), ATV tracks for a while, then pathless to the crash site below Moelfre. The fog cleared to a glorious sunset and fine sea views. This was very welcome, as there was no need to slavishly follow the bearing through the middle of the bogs. North Wales path back to the start.Gill16/03/2017
Drove to car park with top portion of road covered in pools of water and slush. Raining at car park. Walked back down road and then left over stile. Followed path gradually getting more indistinct as snow increased with height to the bwlch between Foel Lwyd and Tal y Fan. Turned left . Snow now knee deep and only odd places were path was visible. Eventually over wall (easy, snow almost to top of wall) to top. Back to wall (Not as easy this side no snow). Turned left and continued to stile over wall. Should have turned down hand railing the wall. Didn't, over wall and down before realising. Straight down then and eventually hand railed on left side down wall I should have done earlier. Back to track and car park. Not a nice day. In cloud for much of time. Knee deep show for a lot of the way. Very tiring, snow wouldn't support weight.MikeM23/11/2016
