Direct route up and back from the main car park on a very windy spring evening with R and T. A little light rain and a rainbow when we were up the top. I took a slight short cut on the way back, going over rather than round the final hill.clyoung07/04/2024

Parked in the main car park. Two paths are offered, one more strenuous than the other. Very cloudy and windy day, occasional gaps in cloud offering great westward views to Eryri.flynn04/02/2024

Parked at main car park for Moel Famau, £2 for 4hrs and £5 all day, very reasonable. Ascended Foel Fenlli first directly, then up Moel Famau via the tourist gravel Path back the same way. Horrible tower thing on top. Shame it was so hazy as the views would have been decent. Dry though, 2hrs for the whole walk.chillyman817/09/2023

Enjoyable round from free roadside parking 75m down the road from the official paid parking at the top end. Moel Famau, Moel Dywyll via Offas Dyke path, skirting Famau to the east on the way back before enjoyable cut southwards through forest, on an excellent track used by the Rangers 4x4sAlfa1M25/08/2023

Parked at Bwlch Penbarra car park (only £1.50 for the whole day). Firstly popped to the top of Foel Fenlli, before returning to the car to collect my rucksack for the longer journey north over Moel Famau, Moel Dywyll, Moel Llys-y-coed, then a big descent and ascent to Moel Arthur, and Moel Plas-yw. As no car to collect me, I had to walk south back along the ridge to Bwlch Panbarra. Mainly on Offa's Dyke trail with many people in glorious sunshine and a refreshing breeze. 21km with 1040m ascent in 6 hours.silverwolf_alan07/08/2022

Bwlch Penbarra car park is essentially an 'honesty box' car park. There are no prominent signs showing a parking fee, or a penalty for not paying. The 2 remaining machines are out of the way, unsigned. The council clearly knows that any parking ticket could be contested and they would lose. Like a lot of other rural car parks, inc. some Nat Trust CPs! Pleasant walks up both hillshenryfm23/08/2019

6.1 mile walk from Coed Moel Famau car park, followed good path through woods onto Moel Famau (2nd time, bagged in 2006), then followed big ridge path down to Moel Penbarra (25m prominence), down to Bwlch Penbarra, climbed up steeply onto Foel Fenlli and then south to Moel Eithinen, followed Offas Dyke path back north contouring Foel Fenlli back to bwlch and followed road to car park. Then drove round to our second walk of the day (Moel Gyw and co). The no. 76 bus from Llanbedr to Llangwyfan allows a fabulous linear walk taking in 4 Marilyns: Penycloddiau, Moel Famau, Foel Fenlli and Moel Gyw. Mainly easy going on the Offa's Dyke path, with a few steep deviations onto the summits. Superb views and wonderful little hills. Penycloddiau can be accessed via a steep, faint path off the Clywdian Way above Fron-gelyn, just past a massive iron tank. (The paths marked on the OS map do not exist). Stayed at The Golden Lion at Llangynhafal with Kathryn. Took what I though was a short cut from the pub straight on to the hills but ended up covering a lot of the same ground that we had walked the day before! Was a hot day and had overestimated the miles we were hoping to do so my daughter who was staying in the area gave us a lift to Castle mill. Ended up only walking 6 miles today due to the terrain and the heat!Suzyj10/07/2015

Then up to the busy ruined tower which crowns the top. Returned south along Offa's Dyke. Just over 6 miles. Forecast was for heavy rain all day, there were just a few spots all day. With cousin Mark as 15 year olds on a 5 day N Wales cycling / hostelling adventure, all planned, booked and paid for in advance. (biggest adventure was cooking for ourselves!) From Maeshafen YH (1st ever stay in a youth hostel)zoomed down a huge hiil then pushed back up it to collect our forgotten membership cards, then zoomed down it again! Decided to bag this hill in passing over the high road col - pushed our laden bikes up to the top for safe keeping.Chris Pearson02/07/1979
