Parked in large lay-by at road bend on A494, downhill west of Clwyd Gate Hotel. Followed Offas Dyke route to Access Land then up by fence to the summit. Solo.Dangerous Dave01/02/2024
From Moel llanfair. Easy climb up obvious path. Really nice hill with a cracking view. Returned via footpaths to car at llanarmon yn lal. 14k round trip with Dan.stig_nest30/01/2024
3rd hill of 9 on a 20km linear route from Llanarmon yn-lal to Gwernymynydd. After Moel Llanfair I headed down to the jct of path and took the path directly up to the Trig point and then further on to the cairn. Fairly straightforward. I descended NW over one fence and then an open gate to rejoin the Offas Dyke path, continuing to Moel Eithinen...Dazingdale27/01/2024
Parked at west bound layby on A494 (SJ 1596 5848), followed Offa's Dyke Path, once south east of spot height 344m, turned east then ascended east of fenced grouse bushes. Summit area clear, small cairn isn't the smallest, the trig is whitewashed. Descend south of bettr shallower path (I should have come up this way) to spot height 395m, then returned via Offa's Dyke Path again to the car.chillyman817/09/2023

6.3 mile walk from road south of Moel Y Gelli, followed Offas Dyke onto hill, then trails onto Moel Y Plas summit, continued along Offas Dyke path around Moel Llanfair then onto Moel Gyw, then headed back south over Moel Llanfair (had to climb barbed wire fence on descent), back over Moel Y Plas along road, onto footpath then across field to Moel Y Waun summit, descended back to car same way. This was the second walk today, earlier re-bagged Moel Famau and bagged Foel Fenlli and Moel Eithinen, changeable weather; cloud to showers to sun, not many people around, great views to Snowdonia, Liverpool and even the Pennines.DanTrig25/08/2018

The no. 76 bus from Llanbedr to Llangwyfan allows a fabulous linear walk taking in 4 Marilyns: Penycloddiau, Moel Famau, Foel Fenlli and Moel Gyw. Mainly easy going on the Offa's Dyke path, with a few steep deviations onto the summits. Penycloddiau can be accessed via a steep, faint path off the Clywdian Way above Fron-gelyn, just past a massive iron tank. (The paths marked on the OS map do not exist). The last hill, Moel Gyw, is easy after tea in the Clywd Gate. The direct route is steep, lanky heather and baby trees; the easy way is on the path from Garreg Lwyd (doh!!!), which makes a fine descent. The paths back to Llanbedr are not signposted but easy to follow.Gill14/10/2016

Having weighed up the weather forecast we ditched the Peak District and headed for the Clwydian range. Second hill we parked at Clwyd Gate for Moel Gyw next. Pink Next trainers size 2. Who lost them. Theyre still in car park. Followed ODP around back of hill then up along path through the heather to trig and slate signed summit. Sign advises return same way. We descended over Tumulus and gate then alongside fence.pretty steep. A superb hill. Great viewpoint even on a claggy day like today.stig_nest24/01/2016
