From Lllanfachreth car park. Rhobell Fawr then out and back of Dduallt before completing circular route. (Also visited Rhobell Fawr Weat Top) Great walk but the route up and down Dduallt was very rough going. SoloDan Baddeley03/09/2023
14.6 miles 2937ft walk ,start at Llanfachreth School carpark. to Dduallt and Rhobell Fawr.stephenbuda01/07/2023
Drove up from South, through three gates, parked just off the tarmac where it ends at junction of forest roads: Cynefin Bryn Blew [Rhobell Fawr West Top], Rhobell Fawr and Dduallt. Claggy start which cleared for lovely clear views on a warm afternoon. Pub tea in Bala afterwards.Lazylizzie07/05/2023
At SH799257 there is a clearly signed post 'Y Dduallt' where there is a path that cuts right through the forest NE. It was a little boggy but nothing too bad. There was another little white arrow at SH803260 sending you SE to a stile over a fence at approx SH804259. There was a clear trodden path over a stream and then came to another stile with a fence post marked with white to show the way to Dduallt. Its an easy path along a fence then it became a little less clear but we just headed straight up to the summit with its little cairn. I was worried about this nuttall after reading some reports online but if it really is fine. No crawling through the forest! It was super easy and a great nuttall.haylesb17/09/2022
parked up next to a cottage on the single track road off the A470, walked along the track towards a deserted farmhouse, turned left after the house then across the Afon Mawddach, from here an old track leads the way, there is a ford at the top to cross, from here follow the fence to the top of Dduallt.Buckleymon26/08/2022
Well signed path from Ty-newydd-y-mynedd until just short of the top where it all gets a bit sketchy.PeteEdwards20/08/2022
Left the car at the end of the minor road north of Rhobell y big 78802 29243,and followed the ROW to east of summit and then the fun began mostly pathless over Rhobell y big, Rhobell Ganol, Rhobell fawr, Moel Cae'r defaid west & east top and Dduallt. A note of warning the return to the car after dropping off the last summit due north to ford the river, if this is in spate the crossing can be a difficult wide crossing with slippery stones, I got caught out and tried using the south bank to return, This is not advised instead it would probably be best to try and return through the forest near Foel Gron although this could be also be tricky. Nine and half miles in Seven and half hours(GPS suggested Five hours).WAYNE ROWLETT04/06/2022
Drove up to the road end from the south. Easy walk up to bwlch then followed tortuous route through forest and moorland to summit. Fair play to NRW, the route has been cleared of numerous tree fell. www.exploringmidwales.co.ukRob Rees10/05/2022
From west starting at road end at Dol cyn afon. A very good track to a very wet stream crossing, too deep for my gaiters. Then a path all the way to the summit. Did rather better on return, a bit more careful and managed a dry crossing. Very easy going all the waydickscroop20/01/2022
Used by-way above Rhydymain to access forest track. From high point there is huge logging vehicle tyre track leading though forest to felled area. Pretty much direct down and up to top, following vehicle tracks, then forest edge and narrow trod. With B and R.jenx10/05/2021
Ffridd yr Allt-llwyd & Dduallt - Arenig - from Cwm yr Allt-Lwyd. Left A470 at Bronaber and followed to road end hairpin just before Cwm-Hasgen. Continued straight on along farm track through 1 gate and parked on grass by Dol-cyn-Afon. Track over river and then E to walk at SH 80110 28855, followed wall NW to junction then across boggy ground to Ffridd yr Allt-llwyd - return to track along remains of wall as less boggy. Continued on track E to 2nd ford at Rhyd y Re (looks better than first ford and ground further E is horribly boggy so not worth looking for another crossing) through ankle deep water and then alongside fence on N ridge of Dduallt with snow above 600m, return the same, 3 hours round trip. A great remote mountain and will return to look at E face in a deep freeze.jacobrichmond06/12/2020
Parked at end of the road in Cwm yr Allt-Lwyd. A (rough and boggy) round of Rhobell-y-big, Rhobell Ganol, Dduallt and Ffridd yr Allt-llwyd.PGCE12/11/2020
One of those days to savour and remember. Glorious views and as I arrived at the summit cairn, two RAF trainer jets flew right at me as they went from the direction of the Berwyns towards the Rhinogs. They were only a couple of hundred feet above me. After that, I had solitude and the hills to myself.morgs4mountains16/09/2020

Nice ridge from north then across felled forestry to Rhobel Fawr. With Neville who wanted a nap later on.Nick Canute08/08/2020
Parked behind Aran Hall school, directly north to Dduallt, followed the forestry edge back to the base of Rhobell fawr (east side), up to summit and down to the south, looped back to car.andrew.morel03/08/2020

Park at Cwm allt y lwyd bend 788282,Rhobell y big, Rhobell ganol, Rhobell Fawr, Rhobell fawr west top descend down faint path near wall east to plantation track, down track 600m 797249 then use ride which has easy path SE to to ride going SE to Moel Caer defaid west top, Craig y Benglog. then straight walk to Ddualt cross stream at 80702 25400 ground surprisingly dry. decent from Ddualt N fenceline to ford. Old posts and mesh scattered causing trip hazardunderhill17/11/2018
13.2 mile walk from gated road south, parked in unfenced field at the side of road walked west to Ffridd Carmel farm and along grassy footpath to road north of Llanfachreth followed road to end ascending Bwlch Goriwared, short heathery climb onto Cerniau then followed nice gradual path onto Rhobell Fawr, arrived 3 minutes before the cloud did so got a quick glimpse of the view. We left summit quickly and took wrong path north when we wanted to head east, after a 20 min diversion including climbing down a rockface we descended to the forest below Dduallt, followed the clear firebreaks through to opposite side of forest and made our own rough route up to Dduallt, descended the same way but via a swamp this time back past forest (a lot has been felled) and followed good lane SW back to where we parked. Apart from the cloud coming down on Rhobell Fawr, the rest of the day was fine with high cloud, great views, saw 3 people all day, all on Rhobell Fawr.DanTrig29/09/2018
Tough going, great views though.dadofmorph21/04/2018

Followed the route in the Nuttalls book from Cwm yr Allt-lwyd. Maybe I'm getting to be a scaredy cat in my old age but I didn't fancy the ford, even though there hadn't been any rain recently. I walked upstream a little to where the stream splits and that was much easier to do and I kept my shoes dry. Climbed up to Dduallt with no difficulty. The other obstacle of the day, the forest, was pretty easy. Weather was glorious so good views all around.tsharp04/06/2017
this is a hill to do in bone dry conditions or after server frost.its boggy and faint paths make going tough. start as per book and follow it as it does give the best line of attackAristotle Chip26/05/2017
Exactly as David Gradwell --thanks for tip re forest.Crib Goch10/04/2017
Nuttall route + two Deweys. Parked on rough grassy area at SH 78827 29232 beside track that leaves road at sharp bend. Ddaullt > Rhobell Fawr > Cynefin Bryn Blew [Rhobell Fawr West Top] > Rhobell Ganol > Rhobell-y-big. Went through forest using straight firebreak that starts at SH 80385 25697. Make sure you keep going directly west through this firebreak and don't drift off south. The terrain is difficult at first but gets a lot better as long as you keep heading west.David Gradwell24/08/2016
From Cwm Allt Lwyd. Parked at Dolcynafon (derelict farmhouse), crossed bridge to north side of Afon Mawddach, followed track up the north slope behind Allt Lwyd farmhouse, to the bwlch. Continued N on track to ford (Rhyd y Re) over Mawddach, and continued S on track rising to the ridge. Followed ridge and fence all the way to summit. Nice and easy.Dewi Prysor05/08/2016
From the west. And followed the Affon Mawddach along and up an excellent track before crossing the stream and onto fine ridge following fence line. The isolation and solitude is palpable. FInal Welsh HuMP celebrated on my own with a bottle of diluted mango and orange squash, half a bag of Tesco's mixed nuts and an apple. Peaceful. Avoid the replanted forest at all costs. Nightmare underfoot and another shortcut that totally backfired.Campbell Singer21/07/2016
Nuttall Walk WN 6.3 Dduallt and Rhobell Fawr from the road end in Cwm yr Allt-lwyd (787293), also visiting Rhobell Ganol and Rhobell-y-big on the way down. 13.7km with 870m ascent in 5h30m. (S)silveracorn_alan14/05/2016

With Steve and Lindsay on a fine day visiting Dduallt, Rhobell Fawr, Rhobell Fawr West Top, Rhobell Ganol and Rhobell-y-big.knarf27/09/2015
Parked the car at the junction 797249. Minor gated road up pass Aran Hall School. Did Rhobell Fawr first. Then went along forest road to footpath sign to Y Dduallt. A lot of trees down and then on open land - boggy. Came back to enter forest at 801279 and back along forest road. Make sure you come into the forest by a fire break as a lot of trees down. When I did it there were yellow tapes for some race.johnjennison10/09/2015

parked the car at SH 796 232 at the top of the minor road and ascended through the forest. The route through the firebreak from SH 799 257 is blocked for the most part with fallen trees. From the eastern side of the forest, the route follows the fence north before striking nort-east to the summitdicky bird07/08/2014

RATHER THAN FOLLOW THE NUTTALLS WALK 6.3 WE DROVE UP THE STEEP LANE FROM NEAR RHYDYMAIN AND ALONG THE FOREST ROAD TO WHERE THE BYWAY BECOMES A BRIDLEWAY. VERY WET THROUGH THE FOREST RIDES AND BESIDE THE FOREST AS IT HAD RAINED HEAVILY IN THE NIGHT BUT GENERALLY EASY ASCENT. RETURNED BY SAME ROUTE AND UP AND BACK RHOBELL FAWR FOLLOWING THE WALLS.BURGESS09/08/2013
