a round of mainly Nuttalls from The Hirmant Pass, 7.5, solo, on a blustery dayLou11/06/2017
Walked the route in section 7.5 of the Nuttalls book. Foel Goch, Trum y Gwragedd, Foel y Geifr , Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw, Stac Rhos, Cefn Gwyntog, Cyrniau Nod, Y Groes Fagl. People call these the boring Berwyns but I don't agree. How many of the hundreds of thousands who climb Snowdon and Cader Idris each year would persevere with this walk. It's a real challenge and there are some good views if the weather holds. A very steep descent to Foel Goch reminded me how unfit I've become. Great views at the top, could see Arenig Fawr, Aran Fawddy and Snowdon in the distance inbetween the snow showers. The summit of Trum y Gwragedd was tantalisingly 40 foot on the other side of a barb wire fence. I decided not to be a purist but as I walked on the guilt gnawed at me and, 200 metres later at a corner post, I decided to leave my backpack, cross over and go back to the summit. My gloves and trousers already had holes in them and I'm not sure I'd have risked it if I had been wearing new exptsharp21/03/2017

Solo walk during a weekend trip to Llangollen for a friend's Birthday. Aber Hirnant - Foel Cwm-Sian Llwyd - along ridge via all Nuttalls to Pen y Cerrig Duon - road - Foel y Geifr - north along ridge - steep descent by forest to road - road back to Aber Hirnant. A rather dull and heathery set of hills!AGWilliamson18/12/2016

Followed the Nuttalls route apart from Stac Rhos, Cefn Gwyntog, Cyrniau Nod all done as out and back from the track. Each with a handy cairn to indicate where to leave the track. Latter part of the day it poured with rain and cloud came down.axe.stephen28/05/2014
From top of Bwlch Hirnant, calling at the other 4 on the way. This was a beauty, and the weather was perfect for clarity of views. Back along the track to get home in time for tea! (rechecking the summit of Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw on the way).ruthatlast26/05/2014

A cairn by the roadside now marks the start of the path (my gift to you all). Definitely happy with my decision to get Foel Cwm Sian Llwyd from the East a few weeks earlier.huwthomas14/05/2011

Yet another easy one off the track, but the walk to 2109 Foel Cwm Sian Llwyd was very hard going.heavyhorses06/04/2011
Parked at 953 281 - the first bend up the FC track - about 580m high which made the 5 Boring Berwyns relatively easy. Track has been recently been graded but a gully on the bottom section would stop anything with lower GC than a 4x4. Boggy ground and heaMalcvolm22/02/2011

Parked at 949302 we did the reverse of Nuttall walk 7.5 and followed the easy track through the forest. We emerged from the forest and diverted of the track to find the summit which is marked by an old post. Nice sunny day so nice views.SteveClay12/04/2009
Thank god for the forestry track! Six tops today but hard work in the snow off the track. Wish I still had XC skis.Hammy11/12/2008
Hot sunny day along Pete Roberts 'friendly FC track', these five tops would be a nightmare without this track. Top (a post) just off the track on a defined path walked with Mary. Parked at 946273, room for 4/5 cars.Glenelg31/05/2008
