Clearly lower than main Nuttal summit. Heavy morning rain slow to clear replaced by gradually clearing skies with good visibility. Strong wind became stronger almost blowing me off my feet on many occasions. Parked in car park near 363m spot height on A470. Cribin Fawr->Waun-oer->Craig Portas->Craig Portas East Top->Maesglase->Maesglase (old GR) - Maen Du. Only 7.83 miles but comparatively a lot of ascent at 964m. No wonder felt tired on final walk back to van along A470 from Penantigi Isaf. Better to park near milepost to reduce final walk back to van.SteveSmith09/03/2016
Small roadside parking area on A470 at SH84778 15496 (Space for 2 cars) Up lane opposite for about 800m & then followed waymarked path up to col by top corner of forest (828135) NW up path alongside fence & after doing the East Top of Craig Portas did the Marilyn on Maesglase as well as Mean Du. an excellent walk which took in the tops of maesglase, cribyn fawr, waun oer and mynydd ceiswyn. we started at grid ref sh777100 near the hamlet of aberllefenni. it was a round of 21km. oh and it was the first outing for new boots!stig_nest15/04/2007
Visited the cairn. From here dropped off to the north. Took the ridge down to Penantigi Uchaf a farm now owned by an American. Unfortunately the right of way ends at his farm and he was not aware of this. Still he let us through to make the A470.garyhoney21/07/2002
Diary says 'Permission granted to start from Penantigi Uchaf'. Could have been ironic.Eddie12/11/2001

No record of first date; been here several times as it's on the (original) Meirionydd Round route although no-one's yet managed to include it. Lovely summit, wonderful steep climb from N.RHW01/01/1990
All summits visited today were well worthwhile, making a grand traverse: Bwlch Llyn Bach- Mynydd Ceiswyn- Waun-oer- Cribib Fawr- Craig Portas- Craig Rhiw-erch- Maesglase- Bwlch Siglen- Dinas Mawddwy. Being on this summit, I took the natural line down to Bwlch Siglen, along the top of the cliffs and above the waterfall, where there was no problem with the terrain; very impressive way down amongst attractive looking alternatives. For comments, see Maesglase log.pwheeler24/04/1987

Straight after my last final Uni exam, down by bus from Sheffield, then 4 glorious days of solitude, walking between hostels across lovely empty 2000 feet hills (Bridges). 6,500feet of ascent today (Day 1) in hot and humid conditions made for a hard day over 12 tops of the Cader group from Kings Dolgellau to Dinas Mawddwy YH (only occupant - even warden lives down road and just gave me the key)-Chris Pearson10/06/1984
