South from car park on A470 at top of pass. Found a good path west of crags, in Scotland I would have called it a stalkers' path, all the way up to the wall, much shorter than the path to the east and easy going. Then along the wall over Cribin Fawr to Waun-oer, back a short way to drop easily down to forest track, followed to end and then an easy line back up to fence, Crasig Portas and Maen Du. Dropped down to Penintag Uchaf and back on road.
Afternoon pleasant walk along the fences to Pen y Brynfforchog. | dickscroop | 11/11/2021 |

Fresh snow had fallen in the night which made this hard going. Parked in the lay-by on the A487 which is popular for walkers going up Cadair Idris. Took the path that crossed the cyclepath (that looks like a great cycle) and got my walking sticks out for the first time ever. Couldn't find the path because of the snow so I made my own way up. At the top, walked along the edge of the wood to the summit. Good views at the top as the cloud base was quite high. Came back the same way. Found the proper path on the way down from the woods but it was very slippy and I had to do a “controlled descent” on the way down on my bum a couple of times. | tsharp | 22/03/2017 |
From cad west car park, Mynydd, Ceiswyn, Waun-oer, Cribin Fawr, Cribin Fawr East top, Mynydd Dolgoed, Craig Portas, Craig Portas East Top, Maesglase, Maesglase old top, Maesglase South top, back over Waun oer to cp 8hrs walking | underhill | 21/01/2017 |

12 Mile walk from top of pass, followed good path onto Cribin Fawr and its unmarked summit, then down and steeply up onto Waun-Oer and its trig, back onto Cribin Fawr, down fenceline and along hillside path to Mynydd Dolgoeds featureless summit, then nice ridge walk onto another two featureless summits, Craig Portas and its East Top, then onto the big bulk of Maesglase to its cairned top, we then walked back to Cribin Fawr and down to the pass, after a break, steeply ascended Pen Ochr Y Bwlch and its unmarked top, then up onto Pen Y Brynfforchog where we tried to rebuild the fallen down pile of stones on top, returned to the pass, mostly sunny with the odd cloud banks touching the surrounding summits | DanTrig | 06/07/2016 |
On a backpack. Camped just under summit near a small tarn which was my water supply. Great top, lovely views. Could see the pub at Cross Foxes from the tent! | mick | 04/05/2016 |

Nuttall Walk WN 10.3 West of Dinas Mawddwy from Aberllefenni. Mynydd Ceiswyn, Waun-oer, Cribin Fawr, Craig Portas and Maesglase. 20.4km with 1170m ascent in 7h15m. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 29/03/2016 |
Via Cribbin Fawr avoiding low flying jets, but only just. | Campbell Singer | 16/03/2016 |
Wind so strong could not hold camera to take photo. Hung on to trig to log on TP-UK and had to make do with snap on mobile. Heavy morning rain slow to clear replaced by gradually clearing skies with good visibility. Strong wind became stronger almost blowing me off my feet on many occasions. Parked in car park near 363m spot height on A470. Cribin Fawr->Waun-oer->Craig Portas->Craig Portas East Top->Maesglase->Maesglase (old GR) - Maen Du. Only 7.83 miles but comparatively a lot of ascent at 964m. No wonder felt tired on final walk back to van along A470 from Penantigi Isaf. Better to park near milepost to reduce final walk back to van. | mntainman | 09/03/2016 |
With Penda, from car park on A470. CF to W to M and back. Long flog over boggy ground on way to M. 1230-1715. Trip enlivened by lots of Red Kites. Only saw one other person in distance. | beorwulf | 19/09/2015 |
same day as Maesglase, ascent from Bwlch Oerddrws to Waun Oer then back and over Craig Portas ridge to Maesglase | Dewi Prysor | 29/06/2015 |
MIST ON THE ARANS AND CADAIR IDRIS BUT DID THE DINAS MAWDDWY HILLS IN CLEAR, DRY CONDITIONS. WENT UP THE WELL GRADED PATH FROM THE PASS ON THE CROSS FOXES - DINAS ROAD TO THE QUARRY AND THEN VERY EASILY ON TO CRIBIN FAWR. A BIG DIP WITH VERY STEEP ASCENT ONTO WAUN OER AND THEN BACK AGAIN AND LONG WALK OUT TO MAESGLASE AND BACK OVER CRIBIN FAWR AND DOWN. LONG TREK COMPENSATED FOR BY EXCELLENT VIEWS. | BURGESS | 16/06/2015 |
After the over-complicated and difficult route taken to get onto the ridge, this was a breeze despite the very waterlogged ground. The stone outcrop below the trig would be the only dry ground for some miles. Onwards to Cribin Fawr. | thesweetcheat | 09/05/2015 |
Hot day, up from Minffordd and took in Cribbin Fawr and Maesglase at the same time | andrew.morel | 16/04/2015 |

From Cribin Fawr there is a good path down to the col and then upwards, threading through rocky outcrops, to Waun-oer, the highlight of the day and the only one of the three summits which actually felt like a mountain. It has an unusual circular trig point. | peter4lc | 03/07/2006 |

Cambrian Way. On descent, near the road, I found someone's brand new map blowing across the field. No-one in sight so I kept it before it turned sodden, to save turning mine round in such a strong wind. Bucketing down. Crossed the road and headed up the side of Mynydd Moel following the fence even as it disappeared into what felt like a waterfall! Both hands needed. Map in teeth! | ruthatlast | 11/06/1993 |
