Rather than parking at Banks, nor the gate north (since it appeared this could impede a vehicle turning into the gate) I carefully parked further north on ample triangular verge (track leading to Bwlch farm and air bnb cabin Dexter lodge), SE corner of 4, pulled well off road and not impeding vehicles turning whatsoever. Returned to find Do Not Park note on windscreen, tyre deflated and valve vandalised so it would not hold air after I reinflated it in Llandrindod Wells. Superb views to Brecon Beacons, Black Mountain, Great Rhos, Drygarn/Gorllwyn. Good tracks linking all the tops.Nick Canute10/10/2022
Cycled over from Rhayader. Left bike at The Banks.davechaffey07/09/2022

Delightful breezy sunny round of the Carneddau tops with RHW, Mark T, Tony G, Adrian, Marisa Damasu, Richard and Alex to celebrate Alex's 400th Marilyn completion. Petits fours, barista coffee and rum, most unusual and excellent. Tiny Cairn on top.Denise 19/03/2022

parked by gate n of the banks as per Gill, Marilyn. fort, se top, s top, cae fawr return via sw top/trigunderhill23/08/2020
Starting from The Gaer (SO084549) provided a really pleasant circuit via Cwm-berwyn covering the fort, the main summit, the south-west (trig), the south and south-east tops. Only snags - parking at The Gaer not easy but managed to squeeze my van onto the grass verge just before the B&B farm. Also paths from Cwm-berwyn to open access land not very clear but very helpful and friendly residents assisted.Neil Midgley29/07/2020
Set of from NW (The Banks). Met John, the owner of the land behind gate marked 'no access'. John gave me permission to park on his land. Fine grassy hill, but summit in hill fog today, so no views.ger21/11/2019
From the sharp bend at the Banks. Pleasant walking on short grass. Afterwards on to SW top with trig.NormanW03/10/2019
After SW top, superb viewpoint.DanMaisieBex17/02/2019

Carneddau from The Banks. 3km in 45 mins.silveracorn_alan28/10/2018
From the old chapel on A481 (after Aberedw hill). Walked through the farmyard of Wern-hewlog to the tarmac minor road going up to Cilberllan. Farmer a bit evasive if this was a right of way but said it was ok if we closed the gates. From the end of the minor road continued straight on grassy lane to open hill side. Hence to summit. Returned to car at A481/B4567 junction using the bridleway heading SW to Meangowan. A Worth while hill with wild feel.mindlessflogger27/10/2018
From the NW after tight parking at Banks road corner. Marked bridleway leads easily onto open pasture. Delightful views over green valleys in all directions.Topographer5725/09/2018
From the bend in the road at the Banks with elizyanne. Path nearly all way up to summit. Pleasant viewsGmacT17/07/2018
Easy walk up following the path. Probably only takes about 15 minutes. Hill just moss - grass has disappeared due to weeks of dry weather.elizyanne17/07/2018
My last Welsh Marilyn. Could almost see all of Wales from the top, but not quite. P.S. Don't park on the bend, there's a better place 100 yards or so to the north, but don't block the gate.Gill23/04/2018
Via sheep tracks from the SW top. Nice stroll.Moorponder07/10/2017
Parked at SO063559. The lovely bloke who lives at the Banks came out for a chat and suggested we park inside his gate because lorries use the road and won't make it around the corner if there's a car parked there. We took him up on his offer. We followed an old track to the 410m contour rings and then a sheep track to the summit. The fort is well worth a look if you like a bit of history. Great ditches! We then attempted to get to the trig point, but were thwarted by a barbed wire fence and, with the weather closing in and a hungry baby, we cut our losses and headed back down. Great wee hill though. With Keith and baby Ross.islamidget10/06/2017
Over from SW Top. Bit of trail finding required.Andrew Pearson23/04/2017
Walked up the track to Maengowan farm to the south and across the hills past the standing stone. Stunning views. Almost featureless summit compared to the others up here.Neolith15/04/2017
Up from the SW between the quarries, first visiting the trig point. Down to the south.Father Ted06/03/2017
From The Banks and then on to the south and south-west tops.Herbert Anchovy20/02/2017
From The Banks, straight forward up and down. Met owner at parking on way back, was expecting you can't park here but he just wanted a chat.rhalstead18/02/2017
Approached from shorter NW route parking at SO 06050 55943. The regular spot on corner at disused quarry entrance was occupied. No path shown on map but path on ground to final ascent between 410m contour rings. From there direct ascent to summit (small pile of stones). Return by same route.mntainman22/11/2016
#601 - From the corner at Bwlch Banks along with the Creaking Hiker. A fine little hill.tim74708/07/2016
. CreakingHiker08/07/2016
From 90°left corner at bwlch banks. Decent paths lead on to short grass. Turns out though that this is a seriously rugged hill. The climb up crossed a section of ground which had an almost skiing moguls appearance. The top has a tiny cairn with huge views. The trig point looks miles away and theres several other lumps to explore. A most worthy marilyn.stig_nest27/03/2016
Gwent Mountaineering Club walk. Only 5 of us. From junction of B4567 and A481. Over summit and subsidiary summits before descending to A481 and climbing Aberedw Hill. Snow showers but mainly good weathermike.hoult06/03/2016
