Standard route out and back from Ballachulish. Good path up the attractive glen to the cairn. Down to the river and easily over. Unpleasant bash up through heather to the ridge, then easily along the ridge path from there. Soft snow from about 500m upwards, but no difficulty in calm, mild, overcast weather. With PJ and TH to the cairn, and NS plus Charlie the dog to the top.Owen B14/02/2024
From Meall a Bhuige on my own. Clear. Good views, return same way.alwaysinshorts13/01/2024
Via Meall a' Bhuige and on to Fraochaidh N Top.sclater12/01/2024
From the free car park at the Co-op in Ballachulish. Good path past the school along the glen. Crossed the River Laroch by Scottish Right of Way signpost, just after the cairn. Easy crossing despite heavy rain all week. Deer tracks to ridge then good path to summit. With Jill. Descended by fence posts to high stile over deer fence on to Meall a Bhuige.Dangerous Dave23/08/2023
From Ballachulish. Good path along Gleann an Fhiodh to cairn. Then down to burn. No proper stepping stones, so would be difficult in spate. No sign of path shown on OS map, so up through heather to 400m and then good path along ridge. KeithByTheC26/06/2023
Parking area in Ballachulish at NN 080580. Good path south (lovely walking) to west of River Laroch, crossing river NN 071550. Up steep banking where deer trod helped and hard slog to ridge where excellent path to top. Easy grassy slopes over Meall a'Bhuige and onto Meall Mor - much easier walking. Path off via gate at NN 095564 and on thru' felled forest to track at NN 095572. Over Am Meall and path all way down east side fence from top, NW back to Ballachulish. No short cuts possible, reaching road at NN 084584. Great day out.carole engel11/05/2023
On a grey damp day from Ballachullish via bus from Fort William, shame since the ridge on Sg a' Choise looked good for nice weather.davechaffey19/09/2021
Continued to Meall Mor & Am Meallduchally15/06/2021
Along the Gleann an Fhiodh path until a couple of hundred metres shy of the cairn. Found an easy spot to cross the burn and relatively easy route through the opposite heathery slope to the fine ridge path SW of Sgorr a' Choise. A nicely pinnacled summit lunch then down to Meall a' Bhuige and up to Meall Mor. Superb views across the Glen Coe classics from this point. Around the banana ridge, through a gate to recently felled forestry, then up a rough 4x4 track to the Am Meall. We met a London-based actor at the top of his first ever hill. He was stunned by the beauty but unsure how to get down, so took him down the path to the Ballachulish slate quarry and a well earned pint.summitter07/05/2021
SMC book route from Ballachulish, then on to Meall Mor, then Am Meall which has rough footpath downhill to east side of quarry.willyross19/03/2021

Form Ballachulish. Followed the muddy deer tracks by new fence. Steep ascent by iron posts, heather pulls and rocky incuts for holds but worth it for the views. Esier decent to Meall mor again on the line of iron posts. over a deer fence style.alexmaclennan21/07/2020
With Beinn a’Bheithir two and Meall Mor (Graham) with Malky C at Shills Xmas meet. Frozen underfoot all day, sunny, minus temps, no cloud. No snow. Rounsfell30/11/2019
With: hb; From Ballachulish, we walked past the primary school up Gleann an Fhiodh on a very good path to the prominent cairn. We crossed the River Laroch with some difficulty after all the recent rain, then gained the lovely south west ridge of Sgorr a'Choise which we followed to top. This ridge has losts of quartzite outcrops. Good views from the summit to the south. We descended over Meall a'Bhuige to the bealach then straight up the south west ridge of Meall Mor. There were more good views into Glencoe. We followed the ridge roud to the north west then descended to the new gate in the deer fence before picking a muddy route up to Am Meall. The descent north west back to the quarries through late flowering bluebells was delightful.Ian Baines03/06/2019
With: ib; From Ballachulish, walked past school up Gleann an Fhiodh to cairn, crossed R Laroch with difficulty then gained lovely SW ridge of S a'Choise & followed to top. Good views. Descent to col & up Meall Mor. Good views up Glencoe. Down Am Meall. Helen Baines03/06/2019

3-summit walk. Parked at layby on road (7:20) and took track and path up glen; crossed river easily and ascended N ridge of Meall Lighiche - trackless up steep part. Pleasant ridge walk to summit (9:20). Down NW to col with Sg a'Choise. Up to top of ridge and across deer fence then steepening rocky ridge to summit (10:50). Back down ridge to col with Meall Mor, then up broad easy-angled ridge to summit overlooking Glencoe (12:25). Descended E directly to glen; very steep but feasible on route identified earlier from below. No path. Car 13:20. Weather closing in but dry with high cloud and good views with some drizzle later.dbb13/06/2018

From A82 east. Burn difficult to cross after overnight rain. Galltywenallt28/09/2017
From Ballachulish, up the good path along the River Laroch, easily crossed. The Mam Uchdaich path seems to have gone, so it's a thrash to the ridge, but pleasant walking thereafter, with very fine views.Gill25/09/2017

First Marilyn of 2 from Ballachulish on a wild walk on lesser, but rarely visited hills. Finding the ford over the R.Laroch took time- though it was cairned- necessary today. The blocky quartzite ridge high up is very fine (though an easy walk).pwheeler28/05/2015

Walked in with Jenx from the school at Ballachulish. Followed the rising track alongside Sgorr Dearg, and at GR 074553 dropped to the burn for a wet crossing and rise to the splendid quartzite ridge on Sgorr a'Choise at 073545 using helpful deer tracks through the heather. Well worth seeking out, a great amble up then direct to summit with views to die for! Onwards to Meall Mhor.nordicstar26/08/2014

Parked by school at Ballachulish. Through 6 gates to open moor above river to left. Difficult crossings of 2 side streams. Boots soaking wet. To cairn after 2 miles where track crosses River Laroch now in full flood. Over trousers on to provide an air pocket crossed in 5 steps in water about a foot deep over shingle with three feet in main channel. Uphill over rough stuff to ridge. Iron fence posts and top of forest on the other side. Mist came down. Neat cairn on rocky peak. One of Hamish's wee gems. 5 hrs at car.arranc30/09/2005

Solo. From Ballachulish village. Walked up Gleann an Fhiodh. Eventually I ascended to join the ridge coming down from Sgorr a’ Choise. I followed the ridge to reach the summit of Sgorr a’ Choise. Descended a short way down the ridge before descending to the glen bottom and rejoining the outward path. At Ballachulish I took to the road and walked back to Allshellach, the HF Guest House. The day was fine, with excellent views.pwbellarby09/04/2000
