Parked at the mast, along a few meters and through the pallet gate, along the side of the field to the obvious little path up to the trig. Took longer to move the pallet to get through, so as not to rip my new primaloft on the brambles, than the walk to the trig. | JulieB | 29/12/2023 |
5/7. Perfectly described by Islamidget below! Solo | richard69 | 01/12/2023 |
Through gap in fence, then under BWF. | JGC | 16/10/2023 |
Recommend bagging in winter, or bring a machete! Hole in hedge was overgrown so used field access point further west along the road. Trig very hard to spot, even harder to reach. Got there with some bushwhacking, previous description of it being right next to the compound’s building was very helpful. | Ratboy87 | 01/07/2023 |
Parked by the gate to the compound. Headed a short way along the road to the west. The gap in the hedge still has a pallet there, no difficulty though. Up the field edge a bit. Trig is hidden in the bushes on top of an embankment near the building in the compound. Extensive views from the road, none from the trig. My very patient and indulgent family waited by the car for me! | islamidget | 05/05/2023 |
Not the most satisfying of hills. Hole in hedge now has a wooden pallet to negotiate, along field edge to trig in the fading light. Two sheep in the field were giving me a very puzzled look as I stood at the Trig, as well they might. | PeterD | 21/01/2023 |
Revisit to check if I reached the top first time 18 years ago with the kids asleep in the back of the car. Drove up in the evening to top and parked in the entrance to the mast station whilst holiday in Saundersfoot. Quick outing from car through the gap in the fence, 20m along edge of field to find trig point. Don't remember getting to this last time so changed logged. | robphys | 22/04/2022 |
Through large hole in hedge to west of gate, alone edge of field a few tens of metres to the trig a well trampled area in the hedge. Probably took 5 minutes. | rogreeves | 05/10/2021 |
Living the high life for my b'day celebration today with a generous measure of cherry brandy up at the summit of Brandy Hill at 11 this morning. | Alex C | 14/07/2021 |
Followed previous baggers route, not as overgrown and maybe historically. | Stevooo | 01/05/2021 |
6/9 Marilyn. Parked at compound gates, gap in hedge overgrown with lack of traffic under Covid, as was summit trig. Shorts don’t mix well with brambles, at least short visit to enjoy the lack of peace as cars thunder by below. | N.Morters | 24/07/2020 |
Through the hedge and along the compound. Without a GR trig might be difficult to spot. Job done. | NormanW | 25/02/2020 |
Bagged as we were returning from our Pembrokeshire holiday. Doesn't get any more unremarkable! | huwthomas | 06/11/2019 |
trigpoint, gate to mast compound open but this does not allow access to pillar. went through gap in hedge from road to access pillar. | cjo | 21/08/2019 |
Parked in gateway and followed the baggers trail. | rhalstead | 09/03/2019 |
Ditto Gill. Parked in mast entrance. The hole in the hedge is a short distance to the west. Then a short walk along the perimeter of a crop field. Fortunately the summit feature is a trig, otherwise finding it in the dark may not have been straightforward. | Topographer57 | 28/09/2018 |
Otis and Dagnes | Glenford | 15/09/2018 |
As per other visitors. Easy win | Ramblingpaul | 02/08/2018 |
From the road through the hedge | curlebd | 10/07/2018 |
Through the gap! | Neil Midgley | 24/06/2018 |
3/8 Marilyn day. Through the hole in the hedge and past the compound to the trig. Easily done on the way to the Preseli Hills later in the day. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 10/05/2018 |
Really! Took longer to put on boots than do the walk. Really really silly | nickywood1 | 27/04/2018 |
Perfectly easy in the dark. The hole in the hedge is easy to spot, and no crawling is required. The trig is also easy to find. Not worth wasting daylight on this one, and not much to recommend in terms of night views either, just traffic on the road below. | Gill | 11/01/2018 |

Through the hedge; at first I walked past the trig point hidden in the hedge. | GWR Chris | 26/08/2017 |
About as exciting as Crowborough! Overcast, warm and calm. | iangalbraith | 04/07/2017 |
Parked at the entrance to the waterworks. Found the gap in the hedge which looks very well used! Short wander to the trig point. | Neolith | 14/04/2017 |
Long drive if doing as part of a multi Marilyn day but a short walk from reservoir entrance up west side of reservoir. Thought access from road was going to be difficult, apparently there is a gate a little further on can not verify as went through hole in hedge kindly cut by previous visitor. No crops in field so wandered to middle to take photo and stand on what looked to me like natural higher ground, but probably is not. | mntainman | 24/11/2016 |
Third of the American election tumps without an r. Trig outside reservoir compound access via break on hedge 50m west of the gates. S2352 | vegibagger | 08/11/2016 |
In mist and mizzle on a miserable day. | Gayle | 28/09/2016 |
Solo trip from layby opposite gate . Walked along side of stubble field to easily find trig in between field hedge and utility compound fence. Trig appeared to be high point though was able to walk on stubble to check. 10 minute trip. | Denise | 23/09/2016 |
Having picked up a blister on previous hill I'd reluctantly decided best to cut my weekend short. But this top as well as Foel Cwmcerwyn had been nagging me for some time so wasnt going to be denied this time. What to say about Brandy Hill... A gap in the hedge fifty paces from the gate gives access to the field. Trig pillar is behind a fence but not in the compound. Amazing that its still there really. Thats about it... | stig_nest | 16/09/2016 |
Parked 2 miles to the east at redgate. Then descended north to get below 50m. From there turned around and ascended via the path and road. Walked through the open gate into the field before walking alongside the compound and over the fence to the trig. | garyhoney | 29/08/2016 |
Marilyn 3 of 5 bagged after a successful 2 lighthouse + other Siblet trip. Nice warm sunshine. Solo from car. Slight problem getting to the start of this one as my maps did not show the new road. | assynt_bob | 14/05/2016 |
Roadside... hopped into field at gateway 200m or so west of water works compound and followed field boundary around to find trig point, which is outside the big fences. | geralddavison | 30/04/2016 |
Someone had been at the hawthorn hedge with shears to get at the trig point. I went through the hole and over fence to visit it. The road goes up a bit from where I parked - the layby by the telegraph station. 10 mins of establishing the highest spot but essentially a roadside Ma with little to recommend except the bagging. | pwheeler | 29/04/2016 |
C class road runs across summit top. Operated for SOTA on VHF from gate at communications compound. | G4OBK (Phil) | 08/12/2015 |
Started from SN221125 on the old A477 in an attempt to get a proper walk out of this one. Not recommended though, as the right of way isn't always obvious on the ground and required wading through a filthy muddy farmyard. Summit easily accessed through gap in hedge. | Tony J | 11/10/2015 |
throogh hole in hedge west of compound TP just outside compound building | underhill | 05/08/2015 |
5/6 Gap in hedge is still there ! very quick bag | Fergalh | 01/08/2015 |
Parked opposite entrance to utilities compound.
Narrow gap in hedge just to west of compound, stepped over a wire fence, walked along side of fenced compound to trig point. Stepped over another wire fence to get access to trig point.
On my own. First of 5 today. | mike.hoult | 18/05/2015 |
As per Gerry Bowes. The gap in the hedge is still established. | bowlesy | 03/04/2015 |
There is an opening in the hedge at the west side of the compound that leads to the trig point. With GB. | bolton | 04/03/2015 |
Parked by farm gate at SN21314 13443 – Crossed road & went through gap in hedge & over two fences to trig point. (PM) | gerrybowes | 04/03/2015 |
Gap in hedge to right of compound entrance re-established - thorn and bramble cut back. Summit point appears to be where trig pillar is sited, close to compound perimeter fence. Another field boundary fence, with attendant gorse, to be negotiated to access summit. Completely uninspiring. | jonglew | 28/07/2014 |
All road works finished. Simple walk round the compound with a small gap in the hedge from the road. | Rob Pen y Garn | 30/06/2014 |
Brandy Hill RIP - If you want to see masts, building sites and a large road cutting slicing through a hill this is the place to go. Very sad. We sped on to the coast as quickly as possible but a Dutch couple were poking arround when we visited and seem too be finding it very interesting! | mindlessflogger | 17/04/2014 |
Hardest part - getting through hedge | Bramley | 14/09/2013 |
I recalled it was on the outside of the compound but not which way to approach it. I went in to the left of the compound and past the giant earthmovers that were present as part of the road building going on nearby. After coming face to face with a hedge I backed off and went in the other way, via the hole in the hedge to the right of the compound and soon found the trig. | Father Ted | 10/09/2013 |
Mrs Anchovy considered this a pointless diversion after a day out at Colby Woodland Garden. It was hard to disagree really. | Herbert Anchovy | 29/03/2013 |
not worth the bother and new road not helping | gigglejon | 18/12/2012 |
Stopped at padlocked gate - will count for now by virtue of the 2m rule! | amswanston | 30/09/2012 |
One of tghose "Am I an anorak" Marilyns. From the road you climb through the thorny hedge to the right of the aerial compound, follow the hedge and it is at the back of the mast looking just like the photo. | clivevilla | 15/11/2011 |
Given away by gap in the hedge and cut in the chain link. Ta. | Eddie | 24/02/2011 |
With: hb; Passed this whilst en route to Narberth and Pembrokeshire. | Ian Baines | 10/08/2010 |
With: ib; | Helen Baines | 10/08/2010 |
Climbed through hedge into field by comms tower. Trig pt on old wall by tower. GPS wouldn't work by tower. | dbb | 16/06/2010 |
Trig point under large mast at field boundary. Enter field by gate or via gap in hedge if you don't mind scratched legs. | Dugswell2 | 15/02/2009 |
Now reservoir and padlocked gate. Top 60m away. | destaylor | 14/08/2008 |
Made the mistake of climbing into mast compound only to find the trig was outside it! Then round RH side through field, still awkward to get at. | Aye Jimmy | 22/07/2008 |
Nothing to add | Dusty | 15/03/2008 |
Found trig point at second attempt. Another leg scratcher!!
Did Middleton Hill a bit later - a much nicer top | signyred | 29/06/2006 |
Up again 10/05/2011. Barbed wire was cut. Used rucsac to get past gorse. | chrisbien | 22/05/2006 |
Climbed on an overnight expedition to Pembrokeshire. Both tops climbed. | Man of Kernow1 | 03/06/2005 |

Roadside Marilyn - trig point near the radio mast.
Bagged on the way to a long Easter weekend in Pembroke. | ChinnockC | 06/04/2002 |
2nd visit whilst passing with Darren and doing the twin top (as was the case then) of Middleton hill where a friendly farmer escorted us so that we didnt get shouted at by the colnel who lived nearby. | Chris Pearson | 23/04/2000 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...TP beside rd to S side, reasonable view S towards coast. field gate W of summit S of rd, cross pasture to summit | RHW | 19/09/1999 |
Contretemps with man in house. Scrambled through hedge to field next door to house to heavily barbed masdt enclosure to column on top of an earth wall - ?moved. Very unpleasant. | arranc | 01/05/1999 |
