| Parked on the minor road to the East of Pen Cerrig-calch GR23456 22893 where there is a small parking area then walked back up the road to meet the Beacons way for a Seventeen mile Nuttall walk. | Last summit of a perfect hill day. This area exemplifies the things I like about Wales.I even stopped on the summit of Waun Fach to sit with the winter sun on my back, eat my sandwiches and chat to other walkers about distant hills and stuff. Actually, the descent was imperfect. Tried to find the path that starts SE of spot 579. Might have been on it but couldn't find a way into the forest. Followed the treeline SE to a gate and a route that seemed promising but led nowhere. Traipsed around various saturated dead end tracks and eventually crashed out of the woods north of Cwm-Pitt and found my way to Tir Y Nant. Would not recommend. | Wycombe Wanderer | 12/01/2022 |

Continued up the path before doubling back and heading to Waun Fach, following down to Pen y Gadair Fawr and Pen Twyn Mawr. | Eugh. Tough way to end a day! Boggy. Heather-y. The paths that appear to be straight up/down through the forest either aren't there or are horrendously overgrown.
