Very limited parking at the top of the minor road to the NE as the small car park there is closed and bouldered off until March 2024 due to tree felling. The PROW however all remain open. Followed the track and trod to the trig. No views. Solo. Interestingly Wentworth Forest is Wales' largest ancient woodland. | richard69 | 27/11/2023 |
Easy short walk from roadside car park to trig point, tucked away in bushes off the main path. No views | Cumbriancyclist | 21/10/2023 |
Walked up from Cadeira Beeches car park, easy approach, relatively overgrown but easy enough path to follow, tapped the trig and went to grid ref. in comments, no view whatsoever just head height ferns and brambles, took in a fair bit of Wentwood Forest to make it worth the trip, definitely better views to be found elsewhere in Wentwood but bagged it nonetheless | lboutside | 28/08/2023 |

Parked at the car park near high point on road at 413945. Take path that leads past the mast. The a left turn down a grassy path leads to the trig. on the right. Looks like it had been fairly recently painted as it was sparkling white. About 0.5miles round trip. | JulieB | 22/03/2022 |

Almost a drive-up. Small detour on way home from Caerphilly. | davidpettit84 | 21/11/2021 |
From free car park at Cadira Beeches. There is another free car park at top of minor road just east of summit if you want a shorter walk. | KeithByTheC | 08/10/2021 |
Parked at Little Oak car park south of summit as we wanted to actually ascend the hill. We walked up a path we thought ran parellel to the road but eventhough it started good turned into the path from hell as it completely disappeared into almost jungle-like undergrowth conditions. We only just about made it through to a little trail leading to the summit trig. For obvious reasons we followed ridge to the higher car park and followed the road back to car. No views from the top as lots of small trees and bushes are blocking the way. 5 of 5 Marilyns today. That morning we bagged Mynydd Y Glyn, Cefn Eglwysilan, Garth Hill and Craig Yr Allt. Grey/murky weather. 45m ascent. | DanTrig | 05/09/2021 |

Nice, short stroll from parking area.took left hand track. Trig surrounded by felled trees.good views. With stig_nest. | Laura.W | 20/03/2016 |
From close by mast car park. Silly these hill ticking excercises we do. I dont have the inclination to walk miles of forestry plantation to visit a trig half buried in forestry harvest cast offs.. standing as it does in a desolate clear felled patch. We walked in from 100m away. Not very satisfying but then, you take the rough with the smooth.
The view is substantial. Even on a dull morning like today. Just a shame the forestry commision couldnt make a little more of it. Hard to justify the petrol spent on it. Walked with Laura.W. | stig_nest | 20/03/2016 |
In cloud and drizzle, so still no view! Trig half buried. | tim747 | 05/02/2016 |

Last of 7 today. Trig point lurking in the dusk. | jenx | 19/11/2015 |
With Jenx, 7/7 today at dusk. Park within 300m or so, up track. Trees felled to south in recent years give good view of the Bristol channel and server bridges. Trig somewhat buried in brash piles, partially liberated but needs a man with a saw to clear! | nordicstar | 19/11/2015 |
Pleasant stroll through woodland to trig point. | Cas-gwent | 25/10/2015 |

An easy 10 minute walk to the trig point from the road on the north east side. With GB. | bolton | 16/07/2015 |
The wood is being replanted with broadleaves which will be a great improvement. For now, nice views of the Bristol Channel. | Herbert Anchovy | 27/03/2015 |
Parked opposite village shop in Parc Seymour and took a pleasant walk through the woodland before reaching the scene of forestry works devastation at the top. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/wentwood.html | Gayle | 24/03/2015 |
With Tiger Bay Ramblers. A 13 mile round trip with Gray Hill and Mynydd Alltir Fach. | islamidget | 01/03/2015 |
A short walk from the road to the trig pillar, which is half buried under forestry clearance debris. The woodland trust are doing a lot of work here and it should be much improved in years to come, but at the moment it's a mess. Views of the Seven Bridge and south currently enjoyable. | mindlessflogger | 07/02/2015 |
3/7 Easy climb from car park summit now cleared of trees so great views of severn bridge now | Fergalh | 23/11/2014 |

Early evening walk, with occasional good views down to the Severn. Peaceful place. | huwthomas | 14/04/2013 |
A short easy walk up from the road. A few patches of snow still lingering from the big fall 10 days ago. Lots of litter about. Trig was easy to find as the trees were still bare. Just about got a view through the trees towards the coast. | isabelle | 01/04/2013 |
Drive up - to car park and short walk. | dicky | 26/02/2013 |
Lovely summer walk with G/F from Gaer Llwyd burial chamber, via Wentwood round barrows to the summit trig, sun shining through the canopy, idyllic. Onwards to Gray Hill stone circle. | thesweetcheat | 09/06/2012 |
Drove from Warwick to Cardiff and did 4 Marilyns. This first one was park and bag. Rain was just clearing as I drove up through the beechwoods to Wentwood Gate Lane. A 15 min walk from as close as I could get to the trig point- still with a veil of cloud clinging to the forest. | pwheeler | 25/04/2012 |
Dry, calm, mild, overcast, no summit views for trees, views good lower down. | iangalbraith | 15/10/2011 |
From the lane with grandson, Isaac. Had to try and explain why its an hill. | Eddie | 25/07/2011 |
Trig fairly easy to find in Spring before all the undergrowth builds up. No views, unremarkable top. | wheresthepath | 22/04/2011 |
As other indicate bit tricky to find the trig. Park at the crest of the hill off the road then follow the ridge south forking immediately left after the car park. Go past the radio mast (itself not that obvious in the trees) and take a left track after | simon and co | 12/04/2011 |
Amateur radio activity (SOTA GW/SW-033) from the trig, in thick fog... uninspiring walk along the track, before rummaging in the trees to find the trig. | andrewbanks | 10/02/2011 |
Train to Newport, bus to Parc Seymour, 45 minute amble up lane. Arguably the least effort I've ever expended in order to summit a hill, certainly the first time I've done so in November. | johnabutler2 | 10/11/2010 |
A gentle walk through the woods starting from car park at ST 42229 94856. 1.2Km each way | Malcvolm | 05/03/2010 |
Parked near top of hill after an exciting drive up icy lanes. Short walk through snow to trig. | Aye Jimmy | 04/01/2010 |
In the dark and frightened by party hunting something with dogs. | lordtonult | 07/12/2009 |
Regular dog walking hill, didnt think it would be on this list.

Summit, continue on path past radio mast. Track on left, trig point on right in trees of this path.

Actual concrete one so you will find it in the end! | PepandJen | 04/10/2009 |
Trig pillar in woods close to path | webmaster | 22/08/2009 |
