A circular round of the Blencathra group visiting all the Birketts and Synges in the group, namely: Souther Fell, Souther Fell South Top, Scales Fell, Doddick Fell, Blencathra, Gategill Fell Top, Knowe Crags, Atkinson Pike, Mungrisedale Common, Bannerdale Crags, Bowscale Fell, Bowscale Fell East Top, Bowscale Fell Far East Top, and The Tongue. 13 km, 750 m asc. 
Up the lane alongside Kilnhow Beck and contour above Blease Farm to join the Blease Fell ridge. 
Over Knowe Crags (Blease Fell) and Gategill Fell Top to the summit of Blencathra (Hallsfell Top). 
N toAlkinson Pike and the NW down the Blue Screes ridge to Mungrisdale Common. SW by the Cloven Stone and S to the Sinen Gill footbridges and then by the BW to Blencathra Centre.

ANOTHER CLEAR, SUNNY DAY BUT VERY WINDY ON THE TOP OF BLENCATHRA. FROM SCALES UP MAIN PATH OVER SCALES FELL (NEW) AND DODDICK FELL (NEW) AND OUT TO BLEASE FELL (NEW). BACK ALONG THE RIDGE TO ATKINSON PIKE AND DOWN TO THE COLL. NEARLY TO BOWSCALE FELL BUT DIVERTED OVER HORRID ROUGH AND BOGGY GROUND TO THE TONGUE (NEW). BACK ONTO BOWSCALE TO REACH BOWSCALE E. TOP (NEW), THEN DOWN GOOD PATH THOUGH VERY STEEP AND SLIDY AT THE END TO BE PICKED UP IN MUNGRISDALE. From Gategill Fell. Down to Blencathra Centre on the longer but least steep path (go right at the cairn where the paths split). Along the lanes back into the village for a well earned pot of tea at the excellent Threlkeld Coffee Shop. Parked in village without difficulty.
