Morning start from Wasdale head - just me and the dog. Very quiet walk. Started ~7.15 and at summit before 10 (2.5hr ascent). Sun in eyes on way up but quite clear view and very few people on path. Summit freezing wind chill with light snow on ground. Didn't stay long. Descent hindered by dog's short legs! Took about 1.5hr. By the time we reached the base it was baking hot. Path up was chock full of people and dogs coming up.MysteriousSue04/05/2019
Climbed up Mickleden Beck to Angle Tarn, then the summit of Allen Crags (784m), Great End (910m), Scarfell Pike (978m) for the 'On Top of....' event and then back down via Rossett Pike (651m) and Stake Pass. We finished the day with a walk climb back up to Side Pike (330m). With ASW.meltdiceburg28/04/2019

Did not make it. Took 10 people up for my stag do, I was hoping to complete the third of my 'Three Peaks'. Only 3 summitted, it was just too wet, and far too long in it along the corridor route. Intimidating hill, it certainly gained my respect! I will be back.tumpawumpa26/08/2018

Set off despite unsettled forecast. Wind became ever stronger as climbed, then hit by hail.Surrounded by low cloud then, miraculously, the mists swirled away as we gained the summit' revealing Great Gable, Lingmell and the lakes below. All struggle worthwhile!Peak Rambler23/08/2018
Parked at Seathwaite Farm. Followed River Derwent to cross Stockley Bridge. Climbed up past Taylorgill Force and followed Styhead Gill to Styhead Tarn. Turned left to follow footpath up past Sprinkling Tarn and Great End. Turned right then right again to follow footpath up towards Ill Crag. Over boulder fields and scramble down and up between the headwaters of Piers Gill & Little Narrowcove. Final push up to summit to join the hoards who had climbed up from Wasdale. Beautiful day with only a little cloud while we were on the summit. Returned the same way and back to the car in precisely 7 hours. A good route with slightly more people heading to the summit as we descended.TractorBoy11/08/2018

With Rory. Parked at the National Trust car park at Wasdale Head. A very hot start up the Brown Tongue Path - mercifully a breeze arrived at about 500 m. We went up via Mickledore and had a deserved snack and drink at the stretcher box admiring the view of Eskdale. From there it was a comparatively easy finish to the top, where the views were absolutely superb. A quick descent via the usual path (Hollow Stones) to the reward of a swim in Wast Water. What a brilliant day!James McKnight01/07/2018

Easy scramble avoiding the wet rocks. Took a right up the scree path to Sca fell. Great views over to Scafell pike and down Deep gully. Descended by green how back to wasdale. Fantastic round.Zoe Little26/06/2018
Having worked on my fitness after a year of illness in 2017, I found the highest peak in England a most pleasant and straightforward climb. Even left the path at one point to do some scrambling. First hour was difficult but after that easy. Will definitely be back to the Lake District for more hiking at some point.Thomas McIlvaney25/06/2018

Back over Broad Crag, Great End and down Grains Gill. Since last in Seathwiate in June 16, a section of verge parking near Seathwaite village has been blocked off with large boulders. Who is doing this, is it the farm to get people to pay to use their car park, or LDNP to preserve the verge - which wont work as people just parking further north up the road.Hillsidenick09/05/2017

Set off at 9am, Walked up from Wasdale Head, to Scafell Pike, only 3 others on top this time in the morning, snow still all over the place but perfect warm and sunny, great views over the snow capped Lakeland Peaks, no haze so views stretched to Snowdonia, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Southern Uplands all the way over to what looked like The Cheviot, North Pennines, Dales and Forest of Bowland. Afterwards went on to Lingmell, and down steep Lingmell ridge back down to Wasdale Head, then drove to and bagged Seatallan, 9.3 miles altogether, now only have to bag Slieve Donard then all the UK country summits are done, role on June!DanTrig25/03/2017

Set off from Wesdale Head, through the sheets of rain, at 9am. Decided to take the scramble route, which was a little tricky in places, but arrived at the rescue box at the top to find it covered in snow. Met a couple of guys who'd followed me up, and we marched up to the summit through high wind and in low visibility. Came back down the same-ish route, and was back in the car by about 1pm. Absolutely wet right through, thankfully had a change of clothes and a towel handy.davenicoll15/01/2017
From Lingmell did the straight up 500ft or so slog to the summit. Beat the clouds. Fantastic views from the highest mountain in the land. Objective - Ascent of Scafell Pike from Seathwaite Additional Peaks - Great End, Broad Crag, Lingmell Crag Weather - Sunny, Dry, Low Wind (Gusts on Great End Plateau) Time Taken - 6h Summary - Set off from Seathwaite Farm at 1430hrs. Followed track to Stockey Bridge; turned right and began ascent. Took a left turn at the Stretcher Box and began ascent of Great End. Great End - Relatively easy scramble once a rout had been picked, there are multiple false tops so this was the most difficult part. Once the top was reached I followed the plateau South to Broad Crag. Scafell - Reached the Summit after dipping down from Broad Crag. I spoke to several members of a charity group completing the Three Peaks Challenge. Lingmell Crag - I couldn't resist bagging another Wainwright whilst I had chance! Ascended Lingmell quickly with a short photo stop at the top. Descended via the Corridor Route to the Stretcher Box.TomA9307/05/2016

Solo. Also Whit 1992. We have first three days - Peter Ian Joan & dogs. Collect new Vango Hurricane & sleeping bags and leave car at Dungeon Ghyll. Backpack up Mickleden track, Rossett Ghyll, Angle Tarn, Esk Haws, Sprinkling Tarn. Sunny but very windy and a real test for the tents. From camp site ascend Scafell Pike returning via Corridor Route ~ a rather uncomfortable night. Sunday. Clear morning. Early ascent of Gable but weather front approaching so retreat and descend back to Langdale after 2nd breakfast.PeteF01/07/2001

Overnight on the summit on the shortest night to watch sunset and sunrise. Reached after great fun playing for 3 hours on a fantastic and challenging scramble up the dramatic Esk Gorge -deep pools and waterfalls on a boiling hot day. On summit - no sleeping bag just endless hours chatting to many other folk doing the same, trying to keep warm in keen breeze, under a fat full moon. Never really got dark. Sadly a wretched cloud blocked the sunrise over Clough Head.Chris Pearson21/06/1986

From Seathwaite with Martin. Ist ascent of many.PeterD13/07/1974
This was my first ascent, walking from Langdale and going on to Bowfell, Crinkle Crags and Pike of Blisko. Numerous others since, always in winter in snowy conditions, usually February sometimes December. Last ascent was 26/02/2013 from Borrowdale on a cold sunny day with icy paths and some snow on the summits. The summit was deserted, but as I had left my crampons behind, I decided to avoid the icy nose for the descent. Instead I descended to Wasdale, returning by Sty Head.JohnW17/04/1974

Leading a part of boys from the King's School, Chester. From Troutal YH walked to Cockley Beck and along path up Moasdale. Made own way down from top of Lingcove Beck (some pleasant deep pools) and straight to Cam Spout. There are small paths in parts. Up path to Mickledore. Deep snow on final slope. Then to summit of Scafell Pike. Continued to Scafell.pwbellarby13/04/1962
Date approx. Did with BVMC at Easter, along with Scafell; approach from Langdale via Rossett Gill. dbb01/04/1962
Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course at Dale Head, Duddon. Leading and teaching sixthformers with Chris McAllistair. After camping at Wasdale Head. In spite of my trying to get people up at 07:30, departure was not until 10:00. We walked by the direct path from Wasdale Head to Brown Tongue. At the top of Brown Tongue we bore right for the path to Mickledore, for lunch. Our group started on Broad Stand but I decided it was an unjustifiable risk with such companions, in such conditions, so retreated. We followed the well worn path to Scafell Pike and to Esk Hause, Esk Pike, Ore Gap. Then we followed the path – rather faint, to Lingcove and hence to Dale Head. Mist.pwbellarby31/03/1961
After a very cold night with considerable frost at campsite near Seathwaite. With fellow members of Leeds University Climbing Club. Up the Sty Head Pass track. Took the Guides Route to Scafell Pike, returning via Esk Hause, Grains Gill. Snow above 2800' – a tremendous sight.pwbellarby19/11/1960
Part of Outdoor Activities Course of Leeds University Graduate Certificate of Education. With some other participants (Group B). From Stickle Tarn where we had camped. After ascending Pavey Ark and Pike of Stickle continued along a very wet path to the top of Stake Pass. We joined another path taking us below the watershed, on the north side of Angle Tarn. We continued by the broad track leading to Esk Hause and Scafell. By path to the saddle between Scafell Pike and Lingmell. Went down Brown Tongue Path, and then on path skirting the hillside to Wasdale Head where we camped.pwbellarby23/09/1960
