English Nuttall Walk 3.1: Great Gable from Honister Pass. Visiting Honister Crag, Fleetwith Pike, Kirk Fell, Kirk Fell East Top, Great Gable, Green Gable, Base Brown, Brandreth, Grey Knotts. A perfect day in the Lakes with great views, although the amount of scree on Gable's steep slopes is rather tiring. 20km with 1600m ascent, taking 9 hours.silverwolf_alan16/08/2023
From Wasdale Head, Lingmell Beck to Sty Head via the Bursting Knott, climbers traverse Scrambling along threaded through Napes Needle, the flake under arrowhead ridge and Sphinx rock. Scramble down little hells gate to climbers traverse, hit Gavel Neese and scrambled over White Napes & on to Great Gable. Amazing clear 360 views all around the Lakes. Down to Windy Gap, up to Green Gable. Quick there and back to Base Brown to almost the top of GG, to Brandeth and Grey Knotts then back towards Beck Head and last slog up Kirk Fell. We were Rewarded with the alt view of GG and amazing vistas over the Scafell Massif. Heading NW off the back of KF, through gully of Kirkfell crags, Black Sail Pass into Wasdale Head.ByronHaywood22/06/2023

I'm sure I visited this summit the last time I climbed Kirk Fell in 1983, but I didn't treat it as a separate summit at that time and made no record of it, so it is good to revisit it and log the ascent.CXB23/03/2023

From White Pike. After the carefree enjoyment of Pillar's ridge, the arse flavoured scree gully on to Kirk Fell (not recommended) then glorious stroll to the east top with the Scafell Massif at my shoulder. Gave thanks and drank in the scenery; the tranquility spoilt only by the roar of passenger jets. Synges and Birketts compleat. Pleasanter than expected descent to Wasdale from Beckhead. Drove to Orchard Hill.Wycombe Wanderer17/09/2020

Solo walk from Honister Slate Mine - Grey Knotts - Brandreth - Base Brown - Green Gable - Great Gable - KIRK FELL - Horrible direct descent from Great Gable via scree/boulder field to Beck Head Tarn, not recommended! Probably better to descend via NW ridge to Beck HeadNutty17/09/2017
Started at Wasdale Head and up the steep (but uncomplicated) path. Great views on top, Sca Fell Pike was visible for the first time this week and the Isle of Man. Down to Beck Head and down the path back to Wasdale Head. I've now completed every Nuttall in the Lake District (except Pillar Rock).tsharp14/09/2017
