11.1 mile walk from Honister Pass. Followed good path towards Green Gable with a brief diversion onto Brandreth's Summit then followed path onto Green Gable, then followed horrible scree-covered path down to Windy Gap col. From here ascending Great Gable over rocks and boulders to summit. Had the top to ourselves, it was only about 9.30am though. From Great Gable we descended path back to Windy Gap and followed Moses's Trod towards Haystacks following trail near Seavey Knott to summit. From summit we followed main path by Little Round How and then followed hard-to-find trail onto Fleetwith Pike, descending back to Honister and car. 1186m ascent. Clear with high cloud cover, amazing views. Saw quite a lot of people on Haystacks, not many others elsewhere!DanTrig15/06/2021

7th and last summit of the day following Stuart Marshall's Buttermere Marathon. Took a long break between Haystacks and Dubb's Hut before tackling this one. Was feeling the heat from a relentless sun and despite refilling my water was feeling dehydrated. The descent took 1.5 hours because of fatigue and dehydration but no other problems (the path looks scarier than it actually is). Long walk back to Buttermere through clouds of midges along the road because lakeside footpath was closed.NorthernWayfarer22/06/2019

With Chris, lovely weather in the valley but windy and misty on the summit of High Stile. Some drizzle. Started with Fleetwith Pike having parked at the farm at the bottom, then on to Haystacks, High Crag and High Stile. Path down to Buttermere difficult wouldn't recommend. Would definitely do Haystacks and Fleetwith again but would come down via Scarth Gap. Path down into Butteremere never-ending, walked back along the lake though which was very pleasant.karentracey15/07/2018
We had Myla but still desperate for a decent walk but not too difficult we chose Fleetwith but started from Honister pass. From there we Followed the slate mine road most of the way up before it ending and making the final push to the top. Very easy this way however the views down Crummock water and Buttermere from the famous summit Cairn were outstanding! Took my breath away. After taking pictures including one of the new pfp hat me and Bec lay down in the sun at the summit and chilled out. Was so lovely to be on a summit and relax and eat etc. we retraced our steps and back to the honister slate mine shop for a drink before heading home.Scotty 2 Hotty14/07/2018

Climbed Fleetwith Pike up the Via Ferrata Classic Route with Elizabeth & James for my 53rd birthday present to myself. Took the bus from the Honister Visitor Centre to the start of the climb then followed the Via Ferrata, waterfall scramble and final scramble up to the summit. Took about 2 hours and was well worth the effort. Couldn't see Great Gable & Scafell Pike due to the low cloud but was assured we were looking in the right direction which brought back happy memories from 2015. Descent over some boggy ground then the track back to the Visitor Centre. Day was overcast with low cloud although the heavy showers had blown over by the time we started the climb. A great day although Elizabeth & James may disagree!TractorBoy22/10/2017

One of my favourite walks. Not just because of the views of the mountains, lakes and Buttermere. This walk allows a walk past a working slate quarry in Honister and a refreshment at Honister Pass. Continue on to Dale Head, Hindscarth and Robinson for more views and time the descent for ice cream at Sykes Tea Rooms in Buttermere!michaelphillips31/07/2014

I parked at the Honister Pass at over 1,000 feet above sea level, and took the obvious bulldozed path which may not have been the correct one, as it led to mine workings and a sign forbidding admittance. I nevertheless found a way above the workings and was soon on Fleetwith Pike with a superb aerial view of Buttermere. The fell is often climbed from Fleetwith Edge, but as this reputedly has plenty of exposure, the eastern route was better for me and also meant that I could climb the other Gable satellites without too much exertion. It was not especially warm and there was no sunshine, but at least the clouds were well above the summits.peter4lc03/06/2013

Afternoon walk with Pete after going with Mom and Dad to Scale Force. Gatescarth- Warnscale- Dubs Quarry - Fleetwith Pike- Buttermere. This is a really good walk with plenty of interest- going up Warnscale to the old quarries, the edge visiting Honister Crag, and down Fleetwith Edge, a beautiful ridge with beautiful views straight down Buttermere. Cloud base 2800 ft so this was a perfect mountain for today. With Pete.pwheeler08/06/1978
