First day of spring! And first big hike of the year (Dent, Latrigg, Dodd & Loweswater all short warm up walks in comparison). With Sarah Evans, parked at layby on side of A66, walked up Barrow from Braithwaite, over Barrow Door and up Stile End, off Stile End and up Outerside. Wild wee in a hollow on Barrow, snack at top of Stile End, lunch on top of Outerside. Descended into Coledale Valley, quick visit to Force Crag Mine then down the mine track back to Braithwaite and to the car. Spring sunshine, despite the low cloud/ sea mist upon waking up. Luckily it cleared as got closer to Braithwaite in the car and as the morning went on. Coledale seemed to be a blue sky area surrounded by low cloud every where else. Very lucky to have clear views on all three tops. Slightly sun burnt face, but a fab day out, so good to be back out in the hills, after lockdown. | Ruth Mackay | 20/03/2021 |

Possibly ascended earlier. but no real evidence. Most likely I bypassed it on a walk from Buttermere to Keswick, which used to be a regular feature. A fine shapely hill ascended in windy, showery conditions from Braithwaite. | JohnW | 13/10/2020 |
