Day 2/38 of my Wainwright Challenge linking all 214 Wainwrights in one walk taking 38 days to mark my 70th Birthday. Today with Steve from Legburthwaite to Ashness Bridge, traversing Raven Crag, Armboth Fell, High Tove, High Seat, Bleaberry Fell, and Walla Crag. A dry but breezy day. Usual wet ground conditions on the Central Ridge. 16km with 850m ascent taking 6h45m.Alan_70+11/04/2024
From High Tove, with Zoe. Descent to Armboth.Jim T08/03/2024
With Izzy and Margo. From Armboth Fell (Birkett top). A quick five minutes from the Birkett top to come and tick this one off. A great day all round with no cloud at all and hardly any wind. Frozen bog made this one much more pleasurable than previously, the new slab laying project helped too. Although tiring by now in the snow we left the summit and made our way back to the path leading up High Tove. After summitting for the second time in the day, it was down to Watendlath, then a pleasant walk back along the beck to Ashness Bridge, passing Surprise View on the way just as the sun was setting.James McKnight17/01/2024
Road on west side of Thirlmere is closed so parked at car park near southern end, up the road then up the bridleway and di a circuit of Watendlath Fell, Shivery Knott, Middle Crag, Armboth Fell x 2 and Fisher Crag.clivevilla08/10/2023
The Central Ridge. Walla Crag - Bleaberry Fell - High Seat - High Tove - Armboth Fell - Raven Crag.sms.3708/09/2023
A circular route over boggy ground starting at Rosthwaite. Along the valley track past the Stonethwaite, up Greenup Gill, before branching off to the right for Eagle Crag. Then along the ridge to Sergeant's Crag and up the small track to the right of Long Crag, then traversing above it to Greenup Edge. North along the Central Fells ridge over Ullscarf, and down by Standing Crag. Then across very boggy ground (wet feet) parallel to the fence over Watendlath Fell to Shivery Knott. Then a beeline for Armboth Fell, visiting both the Wainwright and Birkett tops. Then up another marshy track over High Tove, and back to Rosthwaite via Watendlath. 22km with 1000m ascent in 7h 40m.silverwolf_alan26/08/2023
Can't understand why Wainwright would have considered this to be the top when there is an obviously higher top with a fairly impressive crag on the same moor only 200m away.cumbria mammoth01/07/2023
Circuit from Legburthwaite: Raven Crag, Armboth Fell, High Tove, High Seat, Bleaberry Fell, Walla Crag, High Rigg. 22.7km, 4h 30. The boggiest sections on the central ridge were a lot drier than they could have been, and we almost avoided the incoming storm (but not quite)Rockdoctor25/06/2023

From the Birkett top to North, on my own, sunny & hot, return via same top then across the boggy area, ended up too near Fisher Gill.alwaysinshorts30/06/2021
Parked in car park at Armboth and walked directly to summit of High Tove then across to Armboth. With SH and PR.wombourne28/06/2021
Start ~ 305171, Armboth car park. Followed the RoW direct to the summit of High Tove before crossing the boggy valley to climb to Armboth Fell. Both the bogs and fell were much better than AW's assessment, mind you I has been pretty dry of late. With Wombourne & Pat R.steve hudson28/06/2021
Weather improving. Still quite boggy from High Tove even after a dry period. Heading to UllscarfSiHolden211/06/2021
Overcast but dry, with stronger winds than expected. Planned to do the central fells, and camp on High Raise, but got there so early decided to head back over Sergeants crag and Eagle Crag.siholden11/06/2021
So ... the walk across from High Tove was nowhere near as wet as it might have been following the long dry spell. Views would have been lovely if the low cloud hadn't been there!apshepherd09/06/2021
From Armboth Car Park (no charge) up row then followed path for about 400m and cut across towards Birkett top (which I had done before) picking up another poorer path. This time I spent my five minutes going over to the Wainwright (lower but with cairn)! Back same way - three left.SS08/06/2021
Solo ascent from Armboth Car Park to High Tove - Armboth Fell (Birkett Summit) - Armboth Fell. 4.47m with 398m of ascent in 2hrs:37 mins with 1hr:58mins moving time. Easy going as not as boggy as expected due to recent dry spell. Planned to descend via Fisher Crag but missed path and crossed Fisher Gill to intercept same path used on ascent.pwhitaker_196608/06/2021
