Castle Crag, Sippling Crag, Raven Crag, all in swirling mist, wind & rain. Atmospheric!Barns15030/12/2023
From the A591 as the road to the damn triangle car park from the N was flooded and all other roads still closed. Nice and easy, great views on a blustery afternoon. Congrats to the couple who had just got engaged on the top as we arrived!sebastiencale28/12/2023

On forest roads round and up to Castle Crag to staircase. Nice time at the viewpoint but difficult for Wainwrights on the Air amateur radio as it's surrounded by higher hills. Qualified with one contact from another portable hill station. Descended via regular route with a bit of forest road in the middle cos it's hard going to the dam. With DadM0YDH07/10/2023
Walked from the nearest bus stop - unusual to do what was effectively a forest walk to get a Wainwright. Great view of some RAF jets charging above Thirlmere from the top.Richard21/09/2023

Road remains closed over dam, so parked in parking area at the start of Raven Crag track. Up the steep Ascent, on to Castle crag, over to Castle Crag, then down the more gentle but longer descent on forestry track.matty1971b01/07/2023

Circuit from Legburthwaite: Raven Crag, Armboth Fell, High Tove, High Seat, Bleaberry Fell, Walla Crag, High Rigg. 22.7km, 4h 30. The boggiest sections on the central ridge were a lot drier than they could have been, and we almost avoided the incoming storm (but not quite)Rockdoctor25/06/2023

Parked in Legburthwaite car park for a revisit to Raven Crag (Wainwright Round 4); but first had to do the newly discovered Tump of Smaithwaite Hill. The view from the summit of Raven Crag up Thirlmere was as good as ever. Many people out on this sheltered hill from the strong westerly wind. Returned direct back across Thirlmere Dam. 6km with 360m ascent taking 2 hours.silverwolf_alan19/02/2023

From Bridge End Farm as Thirlmere dam road is currently closed to vehicles. Up the well-defined path. Missed the left hander to take the boardwalk route to the summit but ascent from the southern ledges more interesting anyway.forsterfamily713/08/2022

No need to go tramping through the woods as I did, there is a well maintained path to the summit, starting from the forestry track to the north/north-west.Ratboy8720/12/2021

With Cerys Walford, very sunny and hot, stunning views from the top so spent at least an hour sat at the top just talking and appreciating. Parked at UU Legburthwaite car park, walked over the dam road and up the most direct way with only a short detour round the track to avoid a steep section. Went to Castle Crag to investigate the fort and had lunch at the top of there, looking down Shoulthwaite Gill. Could see some climbers on Iron Crag/ Goat Crag. Then came down via the forest tracks through the forest and around the base of the The Benn back to the road.Ruth Mackay24/04/2021
