After a change of plan as we were going to do Ravens crag. Parked near Hawes end as close to the fell as possible. Off we went and soon got cracking views following the north ridge this is still one of my favourite fells despite its size and popularity. Soon we were at the summit after Bec helping a lady on her first solo walk up the ice. Again amazing views from the summit and the first time seeing the new trig column but not a fan. The views however were stunning and did not disappoint. We carried on before heading down left towards Derwentwater, by now the sun had come out and beautiful blue skies. Once down and after a hot chocolate on an amazing stone bench with breath-taking views we took a detour down to the water to Brandelhow Jetty. What a good move this turned out to be, through the amazing forest along the waters edge on the jettys and sat on the bench watching. After this we stopped on the way home for tea at the Watermill had pint of Collie WobblerScotty 2 Hotty02/02/2019

10/10 The Newlands Watershed walk (in reverse). From Maiden Moor. Finally, the last Wainwright but not the end of the walk... still had to follow the ridge back down to the car. Finished walk about 21:30. In total 16.04 miles, 5505ft ascent/descent but most difficult thing was the heat and lack of water. Although I took 3ltr with me... I swallowed the last of the water on Catbells... I had more in the car waiting for me. From P @ NY231193. I must have visited the top at some stage in the previous 50 years but I had no specific recollection. Interesting to see just how busy this hill can get - it was the occasion of the Keswick Mountain Festival so in the 20 minutes spent on the summit I encountered dozens of walkers and trotters sporting event numbers.summitsup09/06/2018

Jack and Lily's first Wainwright. we set off parking at Hawes End. Jack then kicked a rock at a brand new BMW so we set off quickly up the north face. Jack carried the bag all the way to the top and I carried lily some of the way lol. she didn't want to go on after the false summit but was fine and we all made it to the top. stunning views and got my best ever photo of all 3 of us. we had our butties and soaked the views in. went the same way down. On the way home we popped to castlerigg stone circle for some pictures and the the rhghed centre for an ice cream before home...absolutely brilliant day.Scotty 2 Hotty18/06/2016

14th top of today on the 6th and final leg of my alternative Bob Graham's round starting at the Black Sail Hostel in Ennerdale and climbing Haystacks, Seat, High Crag, Grey Crag, High Stile, Red Pike (Buttermere), Knott, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Hindscarth, High Crags (Newland)Red Knott and Scope End, dropping down the very slippery slope and profile round to cross Newlands Beck and onto minor road to Little Town but using fp that profiles the lower slopes of High Crags and climbs upto the ridge past Brunt Crags and then onto the ridge to ascend to Cat Bells via a few false summits. The rain stopped a while to allow me to appreciate the beauty of Derwent Water. Onwards to Skelgill Bank and the long descent into Keswick.Dazingdale11/06/2016

Much tougher descent than I assumed for a 'family fell'! But made it feel even more of a mini adventure. Small hight, but has it all - including a scample at the top. Never any feeling of exposure (though it looks like you would looking back up, but never any climb/walk by any precipice), and was joined on the way down by Grandfather and his young Granddaughter having great fun mountaineering. Great views of Keswick and beyond. Walk from Buttermere to Catbells via Dale Head's two ridges.MrChris198003/06/2016

A failed walk yesterday (from the Hawes End route) due to really high winds and rain. Our journey down featured a 'micro-tornado' which came down the hillside and straight through us on the path. Very unusual! We came again today to tick this off. This time we came the shorter way up from the roadside near Brandlehow Park. It was still windy but much better and a good view from the summit.Bambography27/10/2013
