With: hb tp mt; From Great Wood up via Cat Gill to Blaeberry Fell. Then High Seat and High Tove down to Watendlath. Over Grange Fell and Ether Knott via Ashness wood back to car. | Ian Baines | 05/03/2023 |
From the car park at Watendlath on a grey windy day with a driving drizzle at times. Followed the RoW past Dock Tarn, then using sheep trods across to the super peak of High Crag. Dropped back down to the Dock Tarn track and contoured round the west side of Great Crag, before crossing to Knotts. Then up to Great Crag (Wainwright Round 4), visiting both cairns, because I can never remember which is the summit. Descended down to the Watendlath/Rosthwaite highway, and then a revisit to Brund Fell (Wainwright Round 4). Although we have camped just below at the Thwaite House field countless times with GSAL Scouts, I have never traversed the ridge north from Brund Fell before, so continued on to the impressive Ether Knot, Brown Dodd and a tricky descent to Watendlath Beck, crossing through our campsite and back to Watendlath along the road in the fading light. 13km with an impressive 800m ascent taking me 4h 40m. | silverwolf_alan | 19/02/2023 |

From small CP NY255176. S on B5289 until just after property Grange View, whence E into Cummacatta wood, stile at X-walls at NY258172, then distinct FP to Grange Crags summit. Back to X-stile, PFP via Brock Bield, Long Moss to King's How. FPs SE to Brund Fell. Splish, splash, splidge and slither on E side of fence through Joppletyhow Moss to Ether Knott, then gravity assisted N over ruff'n'tuff to Brown Dodd, descent N from which is tricky down through craggy ground (do not follow wall on E, it vaults over several high crags). Followed fence line to Eddy Grave Strake and then to High Tove. Descended High Tove and crossed Fisher Gill to Armboth Fell. Return to fence line path to Shivery Man and Knott and down to Blea Tarn. Climbed High Saddle via Coldbarrow Fell, side stepping Low Saddle. On to Ullscarf. Descended following fence line via Green Combe to Dock Tarn where joined marked footpath and on to Great Crag. Walk from Rosthwaite up Castle Crag descending to Grange village before climbing up Grange Fell via King's How before crossing to Great Crag and returning via Stonethwaite Beck. Climbing up slippery stones through the woodland on Great End Crag felt in humid conditions felt like a cross between a step class and jungle survival training. Failed to find a safe direct descent through the bracken off Great Crag and had to re-ascend to take the path down from Dock Tarn | Philip A | 05/07/2017 |

On birthday trip up to Lakes. Stayed at Ricks on Friday night and Saturday Me, Rick, Kate and Jen went to Wattendlath and walked up Great Crag. Bit of snow on the top. Rick and Jen went off to bag another peak while me and Kate went over to Brundfell where Rick and Jen caught us up. Nice jaunt. Great views across to Dale Head group. Very pleasant walk and Kate managed 2 Wainwrights in one day. | Mark T | 12/01/2013 |

Grange Fell always gives a good walk with its paths through heathery fellside. Our first visit was typical of many: Barrow House- Watendlath- Brund Fell- Kings How- Grange. With family. Ericas in flower but too early for Calluna. | pwheeler | 20/07/1975 |
