Walked up from Grasmere. With Gavin, Edi, Darrell and Janine. Heavy rain. The rock was slippery so did not climb the Howitzer today. Not counting this visit for a tick on Round 7. One for a dry day.Dangerous Dave15/10/2022

Early start from Grasmere to beat any crowds on this sunny day. Initial approach through Lancrigg. I had The Howitzer to myself. The climb up was relatively straightforward, the descent trickier. Nice that the rock was dry. On to Gibson Knott, Steel Fell, Calf Crag, Tarn Crag, Blea Rigg and Silver How.Clach Liath29/04/2022

A nice scramble to end the year. Steep, slimy and exposed but not difficult- 10m of YDS3? Went up slope to immediate N of foot sized chimney and descended via this groove. This 3m part is the crux. Would be possible for a leader to protect with a sling over the top slab. You can stand on the top (The Howitzer). Luckily, it dried out quickly after rain in the morning.Denise 31/12/2021
