With Richie. Walked up from Grasmere and scrambled to the top of the Howitzer. I went up the right and Richie up the left. Richie recommended a novel lying down descent which worked rather well.Herbert Anchovy25/11/2018

Having swapped kids weekend kind of so we could sneak this walk in before picking them up at 4pm we set off early because of a wedding on the 10th Nov. Once again fuelled by a Mcdonalds at 4:30am we parked up in Grasmere about 5:45 and set off down Easedale road. On the way in the pitch black we saw a deer staring right back at me in the street. We carried on through the gardens turning right into the woods. Head torches on and started to climb. Was cold but easy going before views of Grasmere appeared and the sun started to rise. We got to the top in what felt like no time at all. Standing on the Lion from the lion of the lamb taking stunning pictures as it got lighter by the second but then we saw the true summit. The Howitzer. At this point wind was blowing a gale 30 40mph plus winds in Baltic conditions. I climbed to the top got all my pictures and slid down to shelter from the cold. Bec sadly could get up to the top of the Howitzer for a combination of reasons from the weather to Scotty 2 Hotty27/10/2018
