Parked off the road to the NNE for a direct up and down. Sunny but wind strength dramatically increased on the summit. Good views all round. Solo.richard6904/03/2024

My fifth round of the Lord's Seat Group from Whinlatter to Wythop Mill, this time with Chris. Visited Whinlatter Top, Whinlatter Brown How, Tarbarrel Moss, Ullister Hill, Barf, Lord's Seat, Broom Fell, Widow Hause, Graystones (both summits), Ling Fell, Rivings, and Sale Fell. 20km with 1030m ascent taking 7h20m. Lovely autumn colours and great views across the Solway into Scotland. Glad we did not do Skiddaw, our original choice, as it was stubbornly in cloud all day.silverwolf_alan03/11/2023

Parked in a layby on the road and ran my first fell. Ling Fell is definitely a good choice for beginner fell runners. Not too technical underfoot, beautiful views of the sea and beyond, and all done in under 45 minutes. Nice and quiet too.WendyWozEre13/09/2023

An afternoon on Ling Fell then across to Sale Fell from Wythop Mill. A very blustery experience even on these low Wainwrights, as the back edge of Storm Betty passed through.silverwolf_alan19/08/2023

Today myself and Alma Aurea headed to Powter Howe for a circular walk taking in six Wainwright's - Sale Fell, Ling Fell, Graystones, Broom Fell, Lord's Seat and Barf, plus a couple of nearby summits. The weather was very warm and humid but from the forecast it looked like this area should stay clear of any thunderstorms or showers, which it did. However, despite the lower summit heights, the hills are relatively independent and quite steep it turned out to be quite a long day with some hot steep ascents! The walk took about 7.5 hours to cover the 15 mile route. It's a steep drop and re-ascent from Sale Fell, especially in this weather. But nice views and the bonus of a trig. /Dmeltdiceburg11/06/2023
Train to Penrith, X5 Bus to Embleton. Walked up via Wythrop Mill and the Corpse Road. Straight down and followed path to South of Sale Fell, through the woods to Pheasant Inn. Return, X4 Bus from Brathay Hill to Penrith for train home. SoloDave27/05/2023

Day 2 of a big weekend of BGR recce/training, but left the BGR on one side today to explore the Lorton & Wythop fells, starting from Powter How with Barf and going anti-clockwise. Bottled out of Whinlatter as the drizzle got heavier, but it cleared whilst taking in Ullister Hill & Seat How. A grand day out, with plenty of grassy running & a decent amount of bog for Hazel to dash about in.NumptyDumpty05/03/2023
Picked someone up from Manchester airport dropped them off in Workington, then thought let's climb a hill. First one I saw that looked like a quick route 1 job. Didn't even know it was a Wainwright. Shows how much I know about this hillbagging malarkey.Alphaville19928/02/2023
