From Miterdale Forest. 15 km, 730 m asc. NE to Low Place and up the Brat's Hill Stone Circles and Boat How. Over Burnmoor Tarn outflow to join the path to Illgill Head and Whin Rigg. Over Irton Fell and rough going to Great Bank (30 mins to do the 150 m distance to the top and back) Back s by Miterdale Forest. Goldcrest flock. Quite how this is an outlying fell when it is flanked by huge fells which all qualified for the main guides, but hey ho - cracking walk from beck foot taking the path to burn moor tarn from boot and then up to Boat How and continuing across the fell to the stone circles and on to Bleatarn Hill. decent paths throughout albeit pretty boggy. The ascent of Scafell from Wha House, via Slight Side, Symonds Knott, returning via Slight Side, Great How and Boat How to Boot. A wonderful November day in the Lakes, with a mixture of vivid blue sky and mist drifting around the hills. Ascent of Irton Pike from car park (up track on east side of wood). Return to Mecklin Park, on to Irton Fell, Whin Rig and Illgill Head. Descent to Maiden Castle, round north of Burnmoor Tarn via Bulatt Bridge and on to Boat How. On to Brat’s Moss and White Moss and descent into valley at Black Gill.
