sunrise walk over striding Edge to Helvellynjmistry8629/06/2018
It was an early start from Glenridding. I parked for £3 in the Sports field and headed up the lane, before turning left to the path up to Birks. There were still Bluebells out and the views down to Ullswater were superb as there was a thin layer of mist in the valley. It was a slog to the summit of Birks before it became easier to St Sunday Crag. Nice to have it to myself on this summit and the views were stunning. I descended to Deepdale Hause and cut around Grisedale Tarn to the steep climb to Seat Sandal. The views West were great in the soft rather misty light all the main peaks were a dark silhouette against the milky sky. I headed north and straight up the wall to the cairn at the edge of the cliffs on Dollywaggon Pike. It was then an easy walk over Nethermost Pike and on to the summit of Helvellyn where I had 5 minutes on my own. I continued along Striding Edge which was much easier than I imagined with no difficulties to the summit of High Spying How.isabelle01/06/2018

Classic route up Helvellyn from Glenridding via Birkhouse Moor, High Spying How, Striding Edge. After summit visited Lower Man. Return to Glenridding via Swirral Edge, Catstye Cam, Red Tarn Beck and Glenridding Beck. Climbed solo. Beautiful sunny day, 16 degrees. 5 hours. Quite busy, especially on Striding Edge. Probably 12th time I've done Helvellyn, but first time for 10 years ... erosion on steep section from Striding Edge to summit plateau has got much worse!jamessteel10002/06/2016

Over from Catsty Cam via the tarn and up the grassy bank onto the ridge then over to this top. My last Nuttall (excepting Pillar Rock) which when added to my walk around the coast of England and Wales may be a first completion? I had to wait a while for someone else to come up off the main path to ask them to take a photo.Father Ted09/09/2015
