From Troutbeck Bridge - Sour Howes, Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, Troutbeck Tongue. With R. On good path for pretty much the entire walk.Dan Baddeley06/01/2024
The Kentmere Horseshoe from Kentmere in an anticlockwise direction visiting 9 Wainwrights: Shipman Knots, Kentmere Pike, Harter Fell, Mardale Ill Bell, High Street, Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick. Ill Bell, and Yoke. A fine and partially sunny Boxing Day, with very fine snow showers. Certainly a nice change from heavy rain and storm force winds of recent days! 22km with 1200m ascent, taking 7h 40m.silverwolf_alan26/12/2023
From Troutbeck Bridge: Sour Howes, Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, Troutbeck Tongue, then a rather rough and tiresome fight across to Baystones before dropping back to Troutbeck. 21km, 5h 50. Stunningly clear and cold.Rockdoctor15/10/2023
12th ascent. Heading south this time. Sunshine today unlike 7 days ago in the clag up when we came up the steep grass east corrie headwall. Today heading back to Troutbeck having come up The Tongue and Scots Rake. Met a lady and 2 labs on summit- one had done all the Wainwrights, the younger one was on 120! Both on leads as they couldn't be trusted not to chase sheep.Chris Pearson09/10/2023
Kentmere Horseshoe with a twist - climbed up the dramatic SE corrie of Rainsborrow Cove with L. Dense wet mist enveloped us rather than the forecast dry with sunny spells. Could not see the best line up the steep grass through the steepening craggy ground. I had come down it once from the col on the LDMT, but we picked the best safest line we could see today linking deer tracks at times and popped out 50 metres from the summit cairn. Studded fell shoes an asset on the steep wet grass. We tried this yesterday - but heavy rain showers saw us slog up instead to explore the huge slate cavern at the foot of Rainsbarrow Crag -with old Buddhist flags - cavern must be an adventure trip from the outdoor cottage below. I got stung by a wasp in the valley on the walk back -in October!. Today met Andy on walk in from Kendal -early retired Occ Psych lead for NHS- long mutual lament with L re state of the NHS.Chris Pearson02/10/2023
Oh my - a sweltering ascent in the heatwave of our favourite climb - 500m straight up the steep lonely east ridge from Kentmere Reservoir - a great hill legs and lungs work out - deer and squeaking peregrines the only souls about - although Wainwright once came this way. L powered ahead to get a signal on the summit for her work call! Along to High Street then wonderfully off-piste straight down through the crags at the Head of Kentmere to visit the source of the R Kent and its upper course where we skinny dipped to cool off in one of its many pools -delightful in this rare Sept heatwave.Chris Pearson05/09/2023

With L. Great to be back in the Lakes again having just moved to Kendal doing what we like best - long steep climbs up and running downhill along the ridges Despite the clouds of flies in the humid warm calm. Grateful for energy drinks. Sore quads getting used to being back in the hills.Chris Pearson05/09/2021
