Solo afternoon outing for 3 hours. Lovely clear icy and sunny day. My aim was a circuit to include the 4 Lamps below Dove Crag which stood out well from this higher perch, dramatically edging above the precipice of Stand Crags and little visited Hogger Gill.Chris Pearson25/11/2023

My fourth round of the 4 Red Screes Wainwrights from the car park at Brothers Water, visiting Middle Dodd. Red Screes and its Synge Raven Crag, Little Hart Crag, and High Hartsop Dodd. Then I retraced my route back past Little Hart Crag and east along the ridge, before dropping by the old fenceposts past the impressive around Stand Crags to Stangs. A magnificent area below Dove Crag that I have not previously visited in my 60 years of Lakeland walking. Finally dropped down to the main track in Dovedale and back to Brothers Water. A great day, despite the misty conditions. 17km with 970m ascent 6h30m.silverwolf_alan31/10/2023

From Grasmere and up Stone Arthur and along to Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag and Little Hart Crag and down to Ambleside from the Scandale Pass. I may have climbed some of these hills back in 1996 but can’t recall if I had reached the summits or not. So after a long wait I’ve revisited them all. Weather hot and sunny views to the Pennines and Southern Scotland. Time just under 5 hours for 11 miles.isabelle09/08/2022

Solo walk from Brothers Water. High Hartsop (519m) first and Little Hart Crag (637m). Then another down and up to reach Red Screes (776m), then Middle Dodd (642m). Then I made the most difficult detour of the day, dropping to Stangs (474m) so I could bag the summit and then climbing all the way back to to Dove Crag (792m) and Hart Crag (822m). I then made a detour over to Great Rigg (766m) returning via my highest point of the day at Fairfield (822m) before walking back to Hart Crag and descending the ridge via the two summits on Hartsop above How (586m). A challenging walk as once on the fells I seemed to be constantly going up and down with very little level walking and the step counter measured 25 miles of 'real' distance walked. It was clear and sunny the entire day, some of the best views I've had up here for ages and relatively quiet considering the weather and time of year.meltdiceburg12/06/2021

Out of Ambleside Uni CP via Low Crag, High Crag up to Dove Crag. Thick mist up on top so used compass to locate Little Hart Crag. Dropped down to Scandale Pass and returned to Ambleside via a lovely valley that I would have missed had I stuck to plan A. The intended route would have gone via High Hartsop Dodd and Middle Dodd retuning to Ambleside via Red Screes and Snarker Pike but the weather was too bad. Still spots of snow about and a few flakes fell. With Brian K and went up to Scandale Pass and contoured round onto Middle Dodd. Met guy with his wife and family/friends, they had followed us up onto Middle Dodd to do their penultimate Wainright and left to skirt round and up onto Red Screes to do his final one then off down to Ambleside to celebrate. We contoured back round to Scandale and up onto all the pinnacles of Little Hart Crag and onto High Hartsop Dodd. Took the nose down towards Brothers Water and back round to the car. Weather good, played with new camera. Quick pint in Brotherswater Inn and home.Mark T25/03/2015

Climbed from Hartsop campsite, this was more notable because of a large blister due to a new pair of boots. I had driven to the Lakes and forgot to bring my normal walking boots, so I had to buy a new cheap pair!Jhimmy17/05/2002

In practice for a week’s walking in Norway I set off from Ambleside to the ridge connecting Low Pike, High Pike and Dove Crag. Rain fell as I left the car park and did not stop until after I had passed High Pike. I turned off before Dove Crag to reach Little Hart Crag, but the cloud remained too low for any views.peter4lc03/07/1999

Steve worn out from the walk yesterday. Me and Rick suffering hangover from the late night in pubs in Glenridding. Rick and I were dropped off at Kirkstone Pass and set off up Red Screes, soon lost the hangover. Pond skating on the pools on the top. Little Hart Crah, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, down and up onto Seat Sandal. Descended in dark. Had great pub crawl that night ending up gate crashing a yuppee party at Glenridding Hostel where me and Roy slept. On our return to the tent the next morning, Steve and Rick were frozen as was the tent and the brown ale!Mark T02/12/1989

I've been on this summit 2 or 3 times. This was a special occasion, though, as it was on the way to my last Wainwright 2000 ft peak, Middle Dodd. The route was from Bridgend over Hartsop above How to Hart Crag- now established with us as a favourite route- down to High Bakestall, over this top (never really a main objective), up Red Screes and down Red Screes by its N ridge to Middle Dodd and the valley, by Hartsop Hall.
