After Naddle Horseshoe, drove to Mardale Head and did a round of 8 hills Branstree both tops, Nabs Moor, Howes, Tarn Crag, Harrop Pike, Grey Crag. 5hrs. Overcast for first half of walk and then the clouds lifted and the Sun made the last 2hrs hard work. A good day, 20 miles approx in total.Longwojo07/07/2023

From Tailbert followed footpath into Swindale via Trussgap Brow. On to Swindale Head and Dodd Bottom. Ascent of Nabs Moor and on to Howes. From Keld Dub - Blue / breezy and hot - lane then track to Seat Robert (with its Ring Trig) - High Wether Howe - we follow fence down into Mosedale for a paddle through Mosedale Beck - over Howes (then the 673 high point beyond) past pillar and on to Branstree and Artlegill Pike (with its Ring Trig). WOs 110 and 111; Bs. 94. Last day at Shap and rain forecast for p.m. Dropped and picked up at Swindale Head and followed W's route up the Nab and Howes but returned by the same route as wanted to fit in the Birkett Brown Howe via the corpse road as had to omit it on the Naddle horseshoe walk through exhaustion. W Jenx and Bryher from limited parking at Truss Gap. Along lane to Swindale Head then fine old track up past Hobgumble Gill and steep up onto Nabs Moor. Pathless then to Howes and the NE Top of Branstree. Motorway line then to Selside amidst increasingly heavy showers before descending the Old Corpse Road back to Swindale Head and car. Another Hill which was a surprise to find that it was a discrete hill. On the map it appears rather like the shoulder of a higher one. Torrential rain made further progress dangerous so decided to return to the car. A disappointing way to commemorate number 800!moorsman23/10/2013

From Nabs Moor. Mist to 2,000' On compass over pathless tussock, over wire fence up to crags and a cairn before dropping down over more tussock and a confusing ridge. GPS confirmed top. No cairn. Crossed a streamlet turned south to Mosedale passing a large spoil heap on the right. On a bridal path from the cottage, very boggy. Boots and socks soaking wet. for a mile over pathless moor to get a view and sound of Swindale Beck flowing N over a series of falls and ravines. With glucose tablets, back on the track to the car. 4 3/4 hours.arranc14/10/2011
