Only 2metres higher than its sidekick to SE but with trig pillar S5671 making it the first birthday pillar in my geeky 'Birthday Trig Walk of Life' set for my Ex Michelle. I'd visited her 2nd birthday pillar S5672, just west of Kendal, only a few hours earlier..!! | vegibagger | 19/05/2022 |
Another key point on the Bannisdale Horseshoe. I approached on an ATV track from the wall, before the brow, but noticed a good trod following the route indicated in AW's Outlying Fells. A good high spot for a rest. From here, a rough but clear path or ATV tracks could be followed all the way to the other side of Lambs Pasture. This side of Bannisdale the tops are sprawling or rounded-they make a much clearer ridge line on the other side. | pwheeler | 01/03/2022 |
We then made the hard push to White Howe. Again no paths but we had a trig pillar and a sit down to eat our dinner. Nice summit this one. | Scotty 2 Hotty | 24/07/2021 |
The Bannisdale round from AW's recommended spot on a wide verge just after the Dry Howe Farm lane parts company with the Mosergh one. Bannisdale horseshoe 3rd of 10 | Alan Caine | 29/08/2017 |
WOs 98-104; Bs 83-90. A lovely sunny day so went for the Bannisdale horseshoe which proved much easier than W suggests because of good paths most of the way. Joyce with me up Whiteside Pike, then sunbathed as the rest too boring and picked me up at Dryhowe Bridge. Good path on to Todd Fell, Capplebarrow and nameless top but bad bog before and after Long Crag (summit beyond wall) and rough tussocks down from The Forest and over Lamb Pasture. Shoulder high bracken descending directly from Lamb Pasture to Dryhowe Bridge. A very satisfying day for 9 WOs and 8 Bs. | BURGESS | 13/08/2017 |
