From lay-by on the A6 at NY 54832 02710. Took the lane north over High Borrow Bridge and up to a gate at NY 55217 04893, giving access to the open fell, though with a wall to tackle further up. Steep ascent onto High House Bank. Then followed the track along the ridge over Robin Hood up to Lord's Seat. Returned much the same way. Solo. 14.9km, with 685m of ascent.Man of Kernow110/08/2021
Parked off Shap Road. Whatshaw Common, Little & Great Yarlside on to Harrop Pike then out and back to Grey Crag. A6 summit > Hause Foot > High House Bank > Robin Hood > Lord’s Seat > Grey Crag > Harrop Pike > Great Yarlside > Little Yarlside > Whatshaw Common > A6 summit. Warm blue sky day with hazy views, Ground still very wet in places so was a bit of a slog at times. Just me and H and not another soul seen all day.johnkaysleftleg30/05/2021

Parking at NY552051. An extended version of Wainwright's Crookdale horeshoe. High House Bank, Robin Hood, Lord's Seat, Great Yarlside, Great Yarlside, Great Saddle Crag, back to Great Yarlside, Little Yarlside, Whatshaw Common, Whatshaw Common East Top, A6, back down to Hause Foot. Faint trods outbound, trackless waste around head of valley, excellent ATV track helped part way to Great Saddle Crag, otherwise lots of very wet boot wrecking tussock grass.Isbjorn26/08/2020
Parked at highpoint of A6. Extended round of Crookdale taking in 10 Wainwright Outliers.PGCE06/06/2020
With Sue and NB from A6 memorial car park. High House Bank, Robin Hood, Lord's Seat. Return via Whatshaw Common tops to avoid swamp in Crookdale back to A6. Another head in clouds cold day.Frank05/02/2020
Surprisingly cloud lifted and rain stopped and we actually had a view of our whole horseshoe walk. Small cairn on top and large cairn on waterfall 'view point' nearby. On to Whatshaw common - river crossing required.Denise 26/01/2020
Grassy quad track from Lord's Seat, deviating from it to cross the 2 summit rises both with cairns, the most SW one the higher.RichardM26/01/2020
A combination of Crookdale and Wasdale horseshoes from from the A6 layby. Taking the bridleway down to Crookdale Bridge then: High House Bank, Robin Hood, Lord's Seat, Harrop Pike, Wasdale Pike, Great Yarlside, Little Yarlside and Whatshaw Common. Winter solstice, a 12 mile walk on the shortest day. Terrible visibility, in cloud all day. Did last hour in the dark with head torches.Lazylizzie21/12/2019

Continued to the two tops of Great Yarlside, then Little Yarlside, Whatshaw Common and Whatshaw Common E top. Pleasant hills, the ridge south of Crookdale much easier going underfoot.RobertP16/02/2019

WOs 86-91; Bs 73-78. A good clear day with the sun coming through p.m. Drove to Shap summit and did a mixture of W's Wasdale and Crookdale horseshoes. Good path out over Whatshaw Common, Little Yarlside and Great Yarlside. The crossing of Crookdale was not as boggy as feared and a reasonable ascent to Lord's Seat with a good path over Robin Hood. Nasty bog to the foot of High House Bank, then good path along the ridge. Very unpleasant descent through tussocks and bog to the Hause Foot lane, then old road back to the summit. A good day.BURGESS09/08/2017

Grassy paths throughout although sometimes vague. Very wet underfoot, would only recommend after a prolonged dry period.david23020102/04/2017
Done with Richard T & Adrian W as part of a modified Crookdale Horseshoe Round taking in High House Bank, Robin Hood and the Lords Seat. Instead of heading down Crookdale Valley we crossed over to the Ridge to pass over Great Yarlside, Little Yarlside and Whatshaw Common back to the car on the A6 lay by. Weather misty and icy.falunty28/12/2016

2nd fell of Crookdale horseshoe. Light rain driving into my face on 40mph wind but could see pleasant, verdant Borrowdale. Good to see it being repopulated with trees.Wycombe Wanderer12/08/2016
11.1 Mile walk from top of A6, walked down to Crookdale Bridge and straight up to High House Bank summit (Small cairn), along ridge onto Robin Hood (small cairn)and onto Lords Seats very featureless summit, followed ridge across a few bogs to Grey Crag then across big bog to Tarn Crag, back across to Harrop Pike cairn and along easy ridge to Great Yarlside's featureless summit down over pathetic knoll of Little Yarlside and onto boggy Whatshaw Common (no cairn), back down to pass. Nice day, started sunny then high cloud spilt in. Couldn't believe we didn't see anybody on a Sunday in the lakes!DanTrig17/07/2016
