Fourth visit! Last hill on the Bannisdale Horshoe with Ian. Buffeted by the strong wind on the summit. Across Access Land then track through sheep field to road. Downhill to van at Dryhowe Bridge. | Dangerous Dave | 19/08/2023 |
2/3.Revisit. Murthwaite Knott, Whiteside Pike and Todd Fell. Parked up lane off A6 used footpath to just below Whiteside Puke then through last gate on left to Murthwaite Knott. Back to gate snd over open land to the other two. Good stile I. The bottom corner of wall between 2 and 3. | nickywood1 | 02/01/2023 |
First on the Bannisdale Horseshoe more or less by AW route. That parking spot is still ok, after 48 years! Whiteside Pike looked fine on this sunny morning and from the lane end I chose from myriad tracks and trods through the bracken to the summit ramp and very fine top. Still a good path/ATV track to continue, led to a splendidly constructed wall stile. | pwheeler | 01/03/2022 |
From Dryhowe Bridge and after wild dump we headed straight up over private ground, very long grass with no path was about to be the story of the day. We soon made it to the impressive cairn on a pyramid summit. | Scotty 2 Hotty | 24/07/2021 |
The Bannisdale round from AW's recommended spot on a wide verge just after the Dry Howe Farm lane parts company with the Mosergh one. Bannisdale horseshoe 10th of 10 | Alan Caine | 29/08/2017 |
WOs 98-104; Bs 83-90. A lovely sunny day so went for the Bannisdale horseshoe which proved much easier than W suggests because of good paths most of the way. Joyce with me up Whiteside Pike, then sunbathed as the rest too boring and picked me up at Dryhowe Bridge. Good path on to Todd Fell, Capplebarrow and nameless top but bad bog before and after Long Crag (summit beyond wall) and rough tussocks down from The Forest and over Lamb Pasture. Shoulder high bracken descending directly from Lamb Pasture to Dryhowe Bridge. A very satisfying day for 9 WOs and 8 Bs. | BURGESS | 13/08/2017 |
