Staying at Coniston YH with Alex McBride for the weekend, we headed up Walna Scar Road (a track really) for a circuit covering eight summits. Five of which were Hewitts and Wainwrights, two were just Wainwrights and one was just a Hewitt. Alex is bagging the Wainwrights, while I'm doing the Hewitts. Summits in order: Dow Crag (774m), H and W Old Man of Coniston (803m), H and W Brim Fell (796m), W Grey Frair (773m), H and W Great Carr (785m), W Swirl How (802m), H and W Black Sails (745m), H Wetherlam (763m), H and Wchillyman821/10/2023

This top was really difficult for someone who does not like heights. Plus it was flying ant day and we were swarmed by flies at the top. But I did it even though I was very wobbly by the time I got off the summit.JThorn28/08/2022

The classic route up Coniston Old Man with Sasha on a cracking day! Follow the ridge over to Dow Crag with it's impressive face, before descending via Brown Pike. Completion of a walk started two years earlier (almost to the day) where a flying visit through the Lakes coincided with awful weather: Goat's Water was turned into a broiling sea by the wind, and the Old Man looked less than benevolent high above the cloud line. What a contrast!hjb6827/08/2021

From Brim fell we made our way down to Goats Hawse and sheltered from the wind to have something to eat. I had a Spanish omelette. After the break and pictures of Goats water we made our way up to the summit. Steep and windy and only stopping for Bec to wee we got to the top after a little scramble. Loved this summit not just because of the amazing views but I love a summit that drops off one side with a natural cairn of rock. Brilliant and hid us from the wind too. From the summit we did a recon mission to look down the gullys to see if they are doable. Which they are and will definitely be coming back next summer to climb up them. Cannot wait.Scotty 2 Hotty21/09/2019
With Jonny, Nathan and Chris. Dropping a car in Tiberthwaite, we walked up Yewdale Beck and into Dry Cove Bottom. Up onto Weathelam Edge, the veiws kicked in, and the wind picked up. Nice almost scramble upto Weatherlam. Then along the Black Sails, and another fun step up to Swirl How. We then walked along the ridge to Brim Fell and the Old Man. Turning back on ourselves, we went along the Dow Crag ridge (new fav) along Buck, Brown Pike, then down and along to Walna scar and White Maiden, before dropping back into Torver for food and well needed sleep. 8hr20mins (5hr19min): 20.3km; 1437mByronHaywood14/09/2019

Started from Walna Scar CP. Circular walk via Old ManWandyone2326/08/2016
I took the short detour to reach the summit of Brim Fell, and then dropped to the stony path leading down to Goats Hawse. The climb from there to Dow Crag was easier than it looked, although actually reaching the summit was tricky, as there were steep drops to the west, and the rocks which had to be surmounted were uncomfortably close to them. Eventually I found a way via the south side. The highest point was probably a sliver of rock jutting out over the precipice; I got as close as I could and looked over.peter4lc24/08/2016
