From Ravenglass, walk along the A595 to Broad Oak.Followed footpath signed Snainton Fell. The Knott, White Pike, Woodend Height, Yoadcastle. Bailed out at this point even though Stainton Pike was only another half mile. Weather absolutely dreadful. Descended to outward path and returned same way. 14 miles. Very very wet and tomorrow looks no better!Longwojo14/07/2023
With Izzy and Margo. Walk 34 of AW's Outlying Fells. From Stainton Pike. Surprisingly tough going but again lovely views from the top. Extensive ruins at Barnscar on the way down. All easy at last once the walled lane to Dyke is reached. We were getting knackered and time was getting on so we decided to leave Stainton Tower for another day.James McKnight21/05/2023

An overcast day with occasional showers but a damned better than the previous day which was pretty much a washout. Enjoyed a great circular around these quiet hills and met absolutely nobody!! Perfect!morgs4mountains09/05/2021

A tougher than expected round of 9 tops in a lovely quiet part of the Lake District. Birker Fell Road-Rough Crag-Water Crag-Devoke Water-White Pike(Birkby Fell)-The Knott(Stainton Fell)-Stainton Pike-Yoadcastle-Woodend Heights-Rowantree How-Devoke Water-Seat How-Birker Fell Road. On own.MorecambeMonkey18/10/2020
A circuit of Stainton Pike and The Knott from near the junction of Fell Lane and the Corney-Broad Oak road. I followed Wainwright’s Outlying Fells route as far as The Knott, the cut down towards Stainton Farm (footpath bypassing it to the south is overgrown) and Benson Lane (mud). The rocky central top of The Knott seemed comparable in height to the Birkett summit and higher than Wainwright’s cairn.Nick Down118/10/2020
Walked from Ulpha to climb The Pike, Hesk Fell, Yoadcastle, Woodend Height, Whitepike, The Knott, Stainton Pike, Whitfell, Burn Moor, Kinmont Buck Barrow, and Buck Barrow return to Ulpha.Walkingmurphy29/09/2020

Parked at Bigert Mire, nice elderly lady allowed me to park at the farm. Pleasant round of 9 hills in exceptionaly cold and clear weather - not a cloud in the sky all day and minimal wind: Bigert -> Stainton Pike -> The Knott -> White Pike -> Rowantree How -> Woodend Height -> Yoadcastle -> Hesk Fell -> The Pike.jonglew29/11/2019
Parked south of Bigert Mire just enough room to side of field access.Picked up Bigert,Berkitt, and followed feint path over shoulder of Whitfell to descend to the Knott picking up our final Wainwright Outlyer Stainton Pike on our return.jocks104/07/2019

Parked at head of hardknot pass followed birketts walk ROUGH CRAG - WATER CRAG -THE KNOTT - WHITE PIKE - WOODEND HEIGHT - YOADCASTLE - SEAT HOW. Except I climbed white pike shoulder then did the knot and then picked up the route up to woodend Height. Very hot day which drained me of energy. beautiful walk but very little in the way of paths. Not to be done in the wet if you ask me.Hill Wanderer19/07/2018

WOs 35-43; Bs 26-38. Cloudless skies so did a huge day with 9 WOs and 12 Bs. Parked at summit of Fell Road then quickly up and back Stoneside Hill. Excellent walk over Great Paddy Crag, Buckbarrow, out and back to Kinmont Buckbarrow and same to Plough Fell (dull). On over Burn Moor to Whitfell - best views of whole trip - and pitched camp under Stainton Pike. Joyce set up camp while I did Stainton Pike, then horrid boggy walk out to The Knott and much better back to White Pike, Woodend Heights and Yoadcastle. Walked back to Fell Road next morning in thick mist.BURGESS24/07/2017

BY AW OF route. I think I took a wider arc in crossing from Stainton Pike. Stick to the higher and mostly dry ground to your right (east) to avoid some serious wet ground. This needs to be repeated when dropping down to Barnscar. Stick to the higher and mostly dry ground to your right (east) to avoid some serious wet ground. Cross the stream at a small lone thorn tree with a large birds nest in it. This can be seen from half a mile away.Nick Caunt13/05/2015
