With J during a long weekend in Yorkshire. An iffy weather day meant abandoning our plan to ascend Cross Fell. Headed to the Thrang where there is space for a few cars to park. Walked S along the road to Little Ing Farm where the Pennine Bridleway leads up to the ruined farm & then under a railway arch. Some curious sheep stood their ground by the fence, one farting a greeting at us... Followed the track up to the col & turned L just before the gate up the edge to the cairn at the sharp point. No view, so wandered over to the trig point. Back by the same route getting a brief view at the top of the edge.NotReallyABagger20/10/2019

A very good and easy walk from Little Ings up the Pennine Bridleway, along the eastern edge of the plateau to the huge cairns, with splendid views, then cut across to the trig, and back along the NW edge. Cold and windy enough for hat, gloves, and waterproofs in August.Gill04/08/2017

One of many visits (checked this time that I was at the actual summit point i.e. embedded rock 30m S of trig). I parked on the Hawes-Kirkby Stephen road near Cotegill Bridge and walked downhill to Aisgill Farm. Taking a route which I found on the internet, immediately I suspected that I was not on a right of way, as I had to clamber over a steep gate under a railway bridge. It was level walking for a while, then onto a limestone pavement to pick up a path coming from Hazelgill. This was by the far the easiest way onto the ridge, and I approached the summit from the north, passing the Nab first with a cluster of stone men, then south to Yoadcomb Scar and finally to the true summit, marked by a cairn and wind shelter.peter4lc25/06/2013

A great favourite with its fine scarp, high above Mallerstang. Done from Garsdale on my first use of Dalesrail- with Steve Barc. We went up lonely Grisedale, over Swarth Fell, and descended via Hazlegill. Returned over Hell Gill Bridge (a natural limestone formation) and Lunds. A remote feel about it- and indeed only ever 2 ascents despite its excellence.pwheeler01/06/1975
