Chapelfell top and fendrith hill from road HP.robertphillips09/09/2023
From Swinhope Head, and combined with Westernhope Moor. 13.5 km round trip. Not peaks that are likely to be in anyone's list of favourites. Bleak peat moors, but the light ended up being niceRockdoctor20/08/2023

Nuttall walk 10.4: From parking near Weardale Ski Club: down road to Swinhope bridge, Ascent to Cockran's Cabin using wall- ChapelFell Top- Fendrith Hill, Dora's seat, over the road to Black Hill and Westernhope Moor. Fine weather, good views but lots of pathless sections.Lazylizzie26/08/2022
From Swinhope Head first to Chapelfell top following the wall virtually all the way, easy going in this dry spell. Then back across road for similar walk to Westhope Hill. Drove round to above Coalcleugh for another easy walk to Killhope Law.dickscroop10/07/2022
From Swinhope Head. Fendrith Hill and Chapelfell Top on one side of road followed by Westernhope Moor on the other side. Enjoyed Chewing the cud with a couple of fellow baggers near the peak of Fendrith.Longwojo18/06/2022
I approached from Fendrith Hill and it was a tough approach. I found the ditch on the right hand side of the fence and that made the approach much easier.morgs4mountains26/03/2022
From pt.627 (NY862350). Good veg and terrain reading skills required. Initially trackless tough toody blussock grass, after which, with luck, you’ll find and be able to follow the peaty L side of a linear ‘corridor’ through the hagsIsbjorn26/08/2021
Warm & sunny. With George. With Frendrith Hill & Westernhope MoorKatyT01/07/2021

Solo walk from Swinhope Head. After a period of dry weather the conditions underfoot were virtually dry. Over Dora's Seat to Fendrith Hill (small cairn is higher than trig point) then onto Chapelfell Top (visited both cairns and pole) back over Swinhope Head to Westernhope Moor (knoll and trig point). Back to Swinhope Head.Glenelg23/04/2021

Walked up lane from Westgate to bridge over Swinhope Burn then followed Nuttalls route 10:4.dgresty24/07/2020
After a failed attempt at Meldon Hill due to access closure drove to do Chapelfell Top and Fendrith Hill. Parked at the top of the road at Harthope Head (862350) followed fence to the summit ridge, and crossed the fence at the top corner, bits of path and could be quite a boggy route after it has been wet. From there picked up the ditch that goes along the ridge to the summit. Followed the ditch back all the way along the ridge to Frendrith Fell, a pretty easy going 1.2km but again I expect it could be very wet after damp conditions. From the summit of Fendrith Fell headed directly towards the track at Harthope Bank quarry, across much easier terrain than the ascent, picked up a line of shooting buts and an ATV track that led to the track. Then only a short distance back up the road to the car.JulieB25/06/2020
From Harthope Head, went on to do Fendrith Hill and Three Pikes after. Peat dry from drought.NorthernWayfarer29/05/2020
Parked at the start of the quarry track to the NW. Wet, boggy, windy, low cloud to the trig at Fendrith, then along to Chapelfell Top. Reasonable descent path down to Harthorpe Head. With Gillianrichard6902/01/2020

From Swinhope head Road summit to the east with Wendy Alexandrar via the trig pillar S6501 to its south. Started just after 4pm with skies gradually brightening and clearing into lots of blue sky by sunset and pretty apricot Abbs pink few clouds post sunset n very dusky back at the car by about 8pm...vegibagger15/09/2019
From cattle grid at Swinhope Head to SE, after doing hills on W side of road. Dora's Seat -> Fendrith Hill -> Chapel Fell S Top -> Chapelfell Top, then retraced steps back to car. Rough ground, mainly peat hags, from Fendrith to Chapelfell; cut the corner on the return hags bigger so prob didn't save much time.jonglew02/09/2019
CW circuit from cattle grid at Harthope Head. Low cloud and perma-bog en route to Chapelfell Top. I was glad to find the two cairns. Onwards to Fendrith Hill as the sun began to break through...Nick Down123/08/2019
From cattle grid to the east. Up to Fendrith Hill then across to ChapelFell TOP through peat hags and bog. A gully/ditch running east of the fence made for an easier return to Fendrith Hill.mart079708/08/2019
From Harthope Head road. Fairly dry underfoot. Visited all the points noted.PGCE22/07/2019
Nuttalls route. Still a bit damp up there despite a couple of warm dry days but wasn't too bad.Gary Heath29/06/2019
with the dog walked from Swinhope Head GR NY 89839 33173 a layby at the cattle grid heading over to Fendrith Hill passing the top of the sky lifts one a good day you can see this quite boggy and lots of peat hags about summit is a fe meters from the OS trig the headding over the hags to get to the summit of Chapelfell top 2 summits hear and unsure which was the true one to can carry on down the ridge and then head for the road i opted to go down the side of the fell as no visibility could soon see the farm and the road thinking that looks tough trust me the road is miles easier than the walk itself back to the parking spot to refill with water and off over to Westernhope moor this is the boggiest part of the walk stick to the fence and walls unlike meDarren-44318/05/2019
From Harthope Head. In and out of peat hags on ascent and had to walk south to find fence crossing. Descent was easier as found track to the north of the fence.peter4lc13/04/2019
Ascent from Harthope Head road. Hard frozen peat hags made ascent relatively easy going. Fine clear, cold day. With Linda.John Lee12/01/2019

With Tony, Zoe, Graham and Richard. Second ascent.Denise 05/02/2018

From high point on road to west. Superb snow and frozen conditions made for an entertaining wander. Would be dreadful normally I fear.jenx01/12/2017

Parked up at cattle grid to E. Ran over the rough, boggy ground following the fence / wall until hit the trigpoint just as visibility reduced to 50m and then headed for Chapelfell Top via a tortuous route before crossing the fence and following the drainage channel. Turned round and headed back to the car at which point visibility down to 50m for the whole route.madaddo22/09/2017
