From parking by Moorcock Inn using Pennine Journey path to Rawthey Gill Foot, West Baugh Fell Tarn, Knoutberry Haw, along wall to Baugh Fell, continuing traverse along wall down to Clough Force waterfall, rejoining Pennine Journey from Garsdale Head.TK26/09/2023
From viewpoint after doing Hell Gill and Great Knoutberry Haw. Carried tent up but warm night so slept outside in sleeping bag. Woken by an owl trying to land on me and the whizzing sound of snipe flying overhead.with Mart.John Eley24/06/2023
Solo from the potholed viewpoint/parking area off the A684 (SD 69418 91236). Knoutberry Haw (aka East Baugh Fell) & Baugh Fell - Tarn Rigg Hill. Tarmac to Garsdale Foot, then ascending with fence/wall to right.ADT23/04/2023
Perfectly frozen, sunny winter walk from the A684 car park, first following a snow trodden wall-side path/ATV track to Knoutberry Haw and Baugh Fell, then back to the camper for tea and toast before tackling the south side of Garsdale: another ATV track and snow trodden wall-side path to Aye Gill Pike. Around 5 hrs total. Will be much boggier in milder conditions.summitter14/12/2022
From large potholed car park at view point to the west. From High Fawes best to keep west of fence which joins the dry stone wall that goes past summit. Best atv track north of Ringing Keld Gutter.rogreeves17/10/2022

From high point on road more or less due east of summit. Good parking and an initially good track, later a grassy track back to wall that continues along wall almost to top summit just over wall on south side. No obvious crossing point so did not climb wall so as not to cause any damage. I thought that 6 feet from cairn was near enough.dickscroop22/06/2022

Nuttall walk 11.2: Wild Boar Fell, Wild Boar Fell East Top, Swarth Fell, Swarth Fell Pike, Baugh Fell (Tarn Rigg Hill) , Knoutberry Haw. Very hard, often pathless walk on a beautiful March day. Parked on the raod, car surrounded by fell ponies.Lazylizzie26/03/2022
From East from parking area on minor road at SD776921. Followed track which becomes a quad bike track. It weaves about on the south side of the wall as far as SD748920, where you can step over the fence at the field corner. Continue west to summit along the north side of the wall. Boggy.geralddavison03/03/2022
From Garsdale Station, north along Coal Road, west along A684, take minor road at Clough Road, then north to Riggs. Follow rough 'Quad' track along fence line on White Mea, East Baugh Fell to Tarn Rigg Hill. Retrace steps slightly and descend to Coat Weggs plantation, descend through plantation to road (A684). Continue east to Dandra Garth, follow bridleway to Will's Hill, and along plantation wall to air shaft, through Dodderham Moss Plantation to Coal Road and down to Dent Station.raymooremanx30/09/2021
From the east starting at road HP 1km south of Grizedale. Followed a dirt track that soon became grassy but led along south side of fence and dilapidated wall about 500m to a metal gate. Track then deviates south of fence but rejoins at about 450m elevation and follows it to 660m elevation. About 800m from the summit I crossed to the north side of what then became a more substantial wall connected to similar walls leading south. It is not clear whether the summit is on the north or south side of the main wall but if a small cairn on the south side marks the summit, it cannot be reached without a careful wall scramble.Topographer5702/09/2021
From Garsdale Head station: out by a morass, back via the much easier road and noted the parking at the entrance to Grisedale.PhilipChaston29/08/2021

Circuit with Wild Boar Fell. Lots of tedious, tussocky terrain, fortunately drier than usual. Baugh Fell was a repeat, as uncertain of summit in previous ascent in 1987!govanah16/04/2021

With Val. Rain throughout, poor visibility. Parked at viewpoint on A684. Walked to Garsdale Foot, track up hill. Just before track crosses stream and goes through a gate turned left onto another track. Followed uphill with fence line on right. This fence and wall was followed to Knoutberry Haw TP and onto Baugh Fell. Returned same route. Not bad underfoot except between the two summits where it was hard work in places. Possibly a good walk in better weather.mike.hoult18/08/2020

Wild camped at West Baugh Fell Tarn, walked over Knoutberry Haw then onto here. Cold wind but brightening up. Tried to have a look at the East Tarns but ground was too boggy to approach. Wonderful birdsong and a lot of voles about. Easy path down to Garsdale with excellent views.Jake99401/06/2017

A beautiful walk up from Uldale by the Rawthay waterfalls, up to the ridge and then down to St Mark's B and B on the A683 Sedburgh-Kirkby Stephen road. Use of two cars made for an interesting walk on a glorious day, with views of the Howgills, Yorkshire Dales, Pennines and Lake District.ruthatlast23/07/2016
6 mile there and back walk from road east of Baugh Fell, bagged Baugh Fells featureless summit and along to trig on Knoutberry Haw, serious wilderness had to climb a few walls to get to the highest ground, high cloud, bagged Dufton Pike, Knock Pike and Brownber Hill in sun earlier that day. Didn't see anyone.DanTrig16/05/2016
ANOTHER CLOUDLESS DAY WITH STRONG WIND. FOLLOWED RECOMMENDED NUTTALLS WALK 11.2. LONG DRAG UP TO WILD BOAR FELL, EASY PATH ON TO SWARTH FELL AND DESCENT TO RAWTHEY GILL FOOT. DELIGHTFUL BUT LONG ASCENT OF THE GILL TO BAUGH FELL. EASY STROLL TO KNOUTBERRY HAUGH THEN STRAIGHTFORWARD BUT ENDLESS RETURN TO THE START.BURGESS12/05/2016

From Cross Hall via the Sarthwaite bridleway, followed by a circuit of the tarns, out to West Baugh Fell, and down via Birks. Lots of off piste walking, but the going was really easy and not very boggy at all. Rather a pleasant walk, with surprising scenery in the Gills.Gill17/04/2016

Nuttall Walk EN 11.2 Wild Boar Fell and Baugh Fell from Ulldale, visiting Wild Boar Fell, Swarth Fell, Baugh Fell and Knoutberry Haw. 21km with 920m ascent in 7h20m. (S)silveracorn_alan19/09/2015
From lonely, lovely Grisedale- farmer showed me a good place to park at Moor Rigg, then a sketchy (initially marked)route over pastures and then between Hastaw Gill and Grisedale Gill to the top. Very fine way back, via Grisedale Pike, the highlight. Ignore directions in guide books etc and work out a logical route back, towards East Scale.I had a little flounder about in a boggy valley first, but this was a very fine wild Pennine walk. Back in 1989, I went up Rawthey Gill to the Knuotberry Haw top with John Lowther- another fine route on this big hill. It was well worth the 2nd visit: 2nd time to the very top! These walks are both in Wainwright’s Howgills Fells- still a good guide to inspire but there is now no way down directly via High Laithe. The new plantation on up-to-date maps is a clue!pwheeler10/09/2015
From car park on A684.There is actually what appears to be a landrover track which runs all the way from the gate into the access land to the summit of Knoutberry Haw and which avoids most of the boggy spots.Grand long distance views today for my 1000th hill/tump.catman04/09/2015

Kirkby Stephen to Garsdale via Nateby, Birkett Common, Little Fell, Wild Boar Fell, Swarth Fell, Knoutberry Haw and Baugh Fell. Faint path along wall all the way from Garsdale (and on to Knoutberry Haw). Much easier with slight path and accompanying wall - and in descent! What a lump of a hill.Mark Jackson29/07/2015
Overnighted in tent alongside the lane to Uldale farm. Early start benefitted from that lovely fresh morning air. followed Beck past waterfalls - all reachable if you're prepared to walk in the stream. Cut the corner off and headed direct for valley head. can't recommend doing this..pathless, very wet, tough going. topped out about 2km from trig and continued to higher eastern top, returned pathless mainly beyond w. baugh tarn. actual summit didnt seem marked. grand views though.stig_nest25/07/2015

From Garsdale viewpoint car park (SD694912). Didn't find the helpful ATV tracks until we'd been heading up Ringing Keld Gutter for a while. Followed them on the way back down. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/baugh-fell-tarn-rigg-hill-and-aye-gill.htmlGayle07/04/2015
From Rawthay bridge - we ascended via Bluecaster Flank - Raven Thorn - slow grassy - hard going in the warmth. The top saucer like with its tarn disused quarries currocks - its high point (Tarn Rigg Hill) on the far rim (unmarked). We descend via Rawthey Gill the sides of Baugh bulging ever higher above. After some nifty river hopping we follow Uldale back to our start.briandavies06/04/2015
Started at car park at SD694 912, Followed Ringing Keld Gutter up to Knoutberry Haw, across to Tarn Rigg Hill and then across to Gill Head and down Rawthey Gill to SD 745 947 and followed fence which goes up to top of Swarth Fell. Views at Swarth Fell were incredible, Pennines, Howgills, Cumbrian Fells, Morecambe Bay. Then, ridge to Wild Boar Fell. Down to Sand Tarn and then straight line to SD 730 971. Long walk back to car along A683 and some of the parallel tracks. Crossed river at SD 682 917. Easter Saturday and didn't see a single soul.tsharp04/04/2015

FOSCLA walk with John L. 564 bus from Dent to near Sedbergh, flat walking to start with by the river, then a long pull up the hill - easy navigation by the wall, but tedious; a big brute of a hill, there are more enjoyable ones hereabouts.JOHNS18/10/2014
Walked on my own from Rawthey Bridge. Very hot and sunny This was tough walk due to the narrow or non existent paths. Had to rely heavily on compass bearings. Not a walk to attempt in bad weather. On the plus side the views of the Howgills on the descent are wonderful and there are some very pretty waterfalls.flockwatcher17/07/2014

I parked at Riggs on the Grisedale Road and set off due west in a straight line. There was an awkward stream crossing and then a steady climb. Once the ground started to flatten, however, there was a series of peat hags to negotiate before the summit, which is very flat and marked by some stones.peter4lc11/04/2014
