From Garrigill in the first snow and ice of winter. Very tough going from the Pennine Way in deep snow breaking through a frozen crust up to 12 inches deep. Alfie the dog and master were shattered but a spectacularly beautiful winter walk.Guy Heelis05/12/2020
10:15, on the cool side, stiff westerlies, overcast, from chapel at Garrigill. Passed a helicopter and several top of the range, new Range Rovers and was later informed by the man living opposite the chapel that a particularly rich client was shooting today. Apparently his wife isn't the one with the money and is worth £270 million in her own right. Which made me wonder what the hell someone with all that money is doing killing birds on a miserable day in such a bleak place. At least I can justify being here as a challenge. Took in Pikeman Hill just in case it gets upgraded to a deleted Nuttall, or something. Rain sweeping in but luckily didn't last. On to Bullman Hills South Top.Wycombe Wanderer09/09/2020

Pennine Way from Garrigill, and over Pikeman Hill. Several raised sections vie for the 'honour' of being the summit, the least small cairn has it...Aye Jimmy04/09/2013
