Parked in the B6277 layby, despite being very very wet and boggy it was fairly easy going because there was very little ascent.simocity24/03/2024
Nuttall 9.6 in reverse: Viewing Hill and Bellbeaver Rigg from track leading from the B6277. Very tough walk- at least two thirds off path and the ground was boggy, riddled with giant peat hags and full of ankle shredding heather. Grey, dull day. All in all, a walk I hope never to repeat.Lazylizzie02/10/2023
Parked in layby to east on B6277 at start of ROW to Viewing Hill. Initially on track, then followed fence to cross stream. Fairly direct line over boggy ground (occasional ATV tracks). Visited both cairns (easy path between the two).PGCE25/01/2023

On day 3 of a 6 day backpack in the Northern Pennines, I walked over to Bellbeaver Rigg via Round Hill. A tough hill with very rough ground. For its size it really packed a punch!!morgs4mountains23/03/2022

From Round Hill. Made quick progress and hit the road back to Garrigill, which went on a bit but 22km in 4.5 hours not too bad. Stopped en-route to have a look at a 360 JCB excavator circa 1970 and wondered how long it will take to return to nature. The driver's old-skool jacket still hangs, lichen covered, over the seat.Wycombe Wanderer09/09/2020

As Nuttall route 9.6 and still largely pathless. There are a lot of new-looking dykes, both of stone and rope, around the summit area to hold up water.milimana19/05/2019
Parked in Garrigil and did a circuit of Bulman Hills (both tops), Long Man Hill, Round Hill and Bellbeaver Rigg before a long walk back out to Garrigill. 15.31 miles, 5 hours 12 mins.clivevilla25/04/2019

From head of pass. Viewing Hill and Bellbeaver Rigg (reverse of Nuttalls Route). The cairn to the west is definately higher and the OS map concurs. Descent down the syke was surprisingly pleasant on a sunny day.ijpowell21/06/2014
From top of Tyne Head road out of Garrigill is large modern sculpture marking 'Source of South Tyne' where water emerges from spring, marked by cairn. Straight up hill behind passing several mine shafts, capped with beehive cairns. Cairn on top, another about 200m away, went there but definitely looks lower.Aye Jimmy04/08/2013

Start ~ 757388. From Round Hill, dropped back down to the landrover track and took a straightish line direct to the summit, the going wasn't as bad as expected. With Wombourne and Lynette.steve hudson26/06/2012
Beside B6277, 8 miles SE of Alston – Mine road for ¼ mile – Across moor to Bellbeaver Rigg – Drop down S. to mine track above R. Tees – Viewing Hill – NW to mine road – Car on B6277. (PM)gerrybowes06/06/2012
Having just climbed Round ill, I decended to the Tyne Head path and came up to this one directly from the west. Pretty good underfoot. After pausing briefly on the top for a celebratory bannana I headed east again back to the car. Heathery but not too boggy or groughy.Father Ted05/06/2012
With Round Hill from end of minor road from Garrigill. Sorry we missed you Father Ted!David Gradwell05/06/2012
