Footpath through the wood, visited all areas.robertphillips10/09/2023
Pretty rough bag from Nenthead mines CP. Followed sign for Flinty Fell then plodded across the fell with no path in sight but managed to visit both tops. Deciding we had had enough of the moor bailed to the road and walked down to Ashgill Force. Back to the car following sign to “Nenthead via Seldom Seen”. With R.Dan Baddeley04/06/2023
From Nent Head - with GW -JohnIvor17/05/2023
From the road, very indistinct unmarked summit. Probably the most underwhelming Nuttall so far, though there are good views of Cross Fell and Great Dunn Fell. Back through the wood.Lazylizzie24/08/2022
Four tops in three short walks. First Round Hill from Tynehead road end, easy going. Then drove round to Flinty Fell from North, located unmarked summit with OS Locate. Then round to do Burnhope Seat and Dead Stones via the ski tow. This last also easy going but it would have been a different matter after a wet spell I suspect.dickscroop07/07/2022

My final summit on day 4 of a 6 day backpack. When I had read the Nuttalls book, my expectations of this hill were rather limited. I loved the hill as it provided great views and I camped on the summit as the moss was very dry indeed. A very comfortable night!morgs4mountains24/03/2022
Very easy walk from Nenthead. Carried on to Ashgill, up the skiing to Burnhope Seat. And horrible walk along to Dead Stones, Nag's Head, Knoutberrry Hill and back to Nenthead. Take gaiters next time! 12.5m all round.NCurtis26/02/2022
Revisit for the trig block - revisited main summit, then found it on the N summitRHW14/11/2021

The third hill on a 93km walk from Gateshead to Alston.Christo197905/09/2021
The hill might be easy, but parking is no so easy. Walls and fences deter an ascent along the E boundary of the woods. The grass verges are narrow, have deep veg and steep/deep ditches. The only ‘safe’ parking was in a passing place (challenging social acceptability) just below the PF signpost. The start of the FP into the woods was very wet in spite of a week of sunshine, but then a nice green passage, over a stile and through some old spoil heaps.Isbjorn28/08/2021
ticked both old summit location and updated position - underwhelming! Only worth visiting for purely bagging reasons!wainwrighteer18/07/2021

A 22 kilometre hike from Killhope Cross via Nag's Head, Dead Stones, the south end of Perry's Dam, Flinty Fell, Nenthead, Dykeheads, The Dodd, Coalcleugh, Shivery Hill, Killhope Law and the county boundary back to Killhope Cross.Clach Liath16/04/2021
From Nenthead lead mines, up the track to quarry at the North, thn tried to follow the path marked on the map from South of the summit that leads ENE, but even with a GPS on it it was difficult to spot, many grouse posts in various directions, so just generally followed the right direction to end up back at the junction with the main mine track, back down to the car for lunch and then off up to the Dodd.JulieB27/11/2020
A short stroll from the road. With B and R.jenx09/11/2020
Revisit using Nuttalls' route from Nenthead to find revised summit following LIDAR revision. New top could be anywhere really on a large area of flat grass and moss, just north of the quarry. I found the point identified by LIDAR but it looked no higher or lower than anything else within 100 yards. The old summit on a long grassed over spoil mound looked higher.Crib Goch11/10/2020

From summit of road. No cairn at the top of the spoil heap. No feature at highest natural ground either. Back via forest ROW. When the Sitka Spruce is harvested (soon?), can we have some native broadleaves?Peter_W_Mitchell 06/08/2020

Cowshill to Middlehope Moor via High Greenfield. Along county boundary to Stangend Rigg to Killhope Law. Continue along county boundary Black Hill Quarries to The Dodd. Return to public footpath (Isaac’s Tea Trail) and descent to Dykeheads and Nenthead. Out to Nenthead Lead Mine and ascent via public footpath to Flinty Fell. 10 mile walk from Ashgill Bridge, down to lovely waterfall then along river S. Tyne to Tynehead farm, took footpath up then ascended Burnhope Seat to road then through ski tows to featureless summit and after trig, followed ridge to Dead Stones then along to Nags Head rise, descended to Perrys dam and picked up quarry track, rough route across to Flinty Fell, from there headed back to quarry track then barely used footpath back to Ashgill Bridge. Great sunny day with breeze and great views, at the moment very easy to walk because all bogs are dry, would hate to do this walk after a lot of rain.DanTrig29/06/2018
CW circuit of Flinty Fell, Nags Head, Dead Stones & Burnhope Seat, starting from Ashgill Bridge - fine weather - a bit too hot!ger06/05/2018
Pointless summit if you ask meDarren-44326/08/2017
There were two summits of apparently equal height and I climbed them both. This must be the easiest Hewitt to climb, with an ascent of 34 metres and just a few hundred yards from the road.peter4lc13/04/2017

Walked on my own from Nenthead Mining Centre. Sunny and clear. A lovely Sunday afternoon stroll. Take care, once you leave the path, there are a lot of drainage channels running across the moor. You could end up with very wet feet!flockwatcher02/10/2016

Frightened the life out of a rabbit basking on the flinty pile below the summit at 2.25pm! People hard at work dry stone walling so went back to car via path through conifers rather than hopping over any walls. For once a Pennine top that isn't a bog!signyred24/08/2011
