End of horseshoe around from Barbon Low Fell via Great Coum. Then a fair walk back into Kirkby Lonsdale via Leck.campagvelocet22/01/2013
The horseshoe MUST be completed in very dry or frozen conditions. We had the latter and were blessed with perfect conditions. From Beck Fell House climb Gragareth to start a magnificent walk. North to Green Hill (Lancashire's county top), then on to Great Coum, then West to Crag Hill, which on a clear day must rank highly on the "good views list", with The Lakes, Howgills, Three peaks, Pendle Hill, Bowland, Morcambe Bay, all clearly visible. Well worth a stop. Descent a bit more iffy, generally SW to waterfall on Ease Gill. Dry river valley for 3/4 mile, then the sting in the tail, uphill SE for a mile, but well worth it. We didn't see anyone else in 4 hrs !!!! 8.75 mls. 3hrs 40minsCurly & Shirley02/12/2012

Afternoon at Lancaster Uni careers service (No internet in those days to look things up!!) . Parked by caves for Gragareth (again)_ then boggy ridge to Green Hill and Great Coum. Only wearing KSB boots, baggy tracksters, fleece jacket-no sack or waterproofs- began to feel Id bitten off too much as sky darkened and rain threatened and cloud engulfed me. Ran the downhills-back just as darkness fell -woman in field struggling with lambs in the dark.Chris Pearson22/04/1986
Not long had my first car - a Hillman Avenger. Age 22 now that I had my 1st job (in Barrow.)Revolutionised hill trips, although here the radiator boiled over driving up the Leck Fell road. I manually pushed the car round then, after climbing the hill, free wheeled down hill until I got a bucket of water from a farm. Continued on way to Dickie's 21st b'day in Leeds.Chris Pearson09/03/1985

From Great Coum. Came out of the cloud about half a mile down the S Ridge of the Ma, then a pleasant walk down an easy ridge, wide and high pasture but fine expansive views. Went off Gragareth via the Three Men and lanes to Ireby, bus back from stop on A65pwheeler14/05/1975
