From Hawes ascent of Drumaldrace via Gayle and Yorburgh. Down to the Cam High Road and on the North Gate, ascent of Dodd Fell via Swallow Hall and following mountain wall. Descent of Dodd Fell via Rock Edge Cottage and on to Pennine Way. On to Cold Keld Gate and then on to Pennine Bridleway, via Gavel Gap, Gayle Moor, and Newby Head Moss to B6255. Cross road and continue along Pennine Bridleway. Ascent of Wold Fell, on Swineley Cowm and Arten Gill Moss. Leave Pennine Bridleway and turn eastward toward Cross Gate and then ascent of Great Knoutberry Hill following wall and path.
