Then joined track on north side near toffs canteen hut, visited the Goldsworthy stone constructions. Across ridge to join initial path. Superb day and views. From carpark at Jubilee Tower. A warm day and the bog was pretty dry making this an easy ascent to Grit Fell and both trigs on Ward’s Stones plateau. The actual hight point is a peat hag 60m west of the second trig. There’s a small cairn on top not visible till you jump up there. For those attempting this jaunt when the bog is wet beware its an 8 mile round trip, and with bog hopping and dodging will take a good while to complete. Despite this being a sunny summer day I only met one other walker. Lovely to be alone, but do go properly prepared. | Pete West | 04/06/2021 |

From Lee, there is parking beyond the no more parking sign. Up Tarnbrook syke path and then West to the breast. Here a stream goes under the track and a decent enough path snakes up to the weather station and Western trig. Somewgat muted views today but still clear enough to see Southern Lakes etc. Easy over to peat hag and Eastern trig. 8 Eng/Wal Marilyns left now..

LANGDALE | 21/05/2020 | |
11.5 mile walk from road west of Tarnbrook, plenty of space to park 0.5 miles before the hamlet, walked into hamlet then took permissive track north up to contouring track followed this then another trail right up to the summit (first time bagged since 2005), afterwards followed surprisingly easy and dry ridge all the way to Wolfhole Crag, turned back then took permissive track back down to Tarnbrook. After this we drove to and bagged Nicky Nook and then Williamson Park. Warm and sunny with clear skies but slightly hazy, had good views of the Dales peaks but not of the Lakes. Saw 5 other people. | DanTrig | 20/05/2020 |

From Tarnbrook. Drove past Last Parking notice near Lee and one mile up the public road then parked safely and legally on grass verge half a mile west of Tarnbrook. Up access land on good track as far as 591574, then rough track past a line of shooting butts. I found little trace of any track or path anywhere near the summit. HP is peat hag 80 p west of eastern trig on this double trig hill. There are also some impressive outcrops of gritstone easy to summit. The sun was setting with an amazing and changing array of oranges and blues, with lights twinkling along the coast of Morecambe Bay, with great views across to the Pennine on ascent. A superb day.. We descended initially over rough frozen moorland then on a good track to Tarnbrook hamlet. | Denise | 07/01/2018 |

A great walk from Tarnbrook with all the heather in glorious full bloom. Up Tarnbrook Wyre track, then along the ridge (plateau?) to the trigs; back down on an argocat track from the solar/wind powered whatever it is, to join the Tarnsyke clough track. Excellent parking in Tarnbrook village just beyond the first house. Went up Wolfhole Crag first but, there is direct access to Ward Stones along a shooting track from the western end of the village. A wonderful, secluded spot. Difficult to get to. If you ascend over Grit fell then Cabin flat can be very boggy and hard to get over. I would recommend parking in Abbeystead (parking is limited) and heading up over Wolfhole Crag. Wards stone offers a nice pile of rocks and a trig point about half a mile away which marks the summit | BuryFCA1 | 04/02/2013 |
Straight there & back to the Queen's Chair trig from Jubilee Tower. Mostly sunny but very cold, most of the bog/sludge was frozen, which was a blessing... | ianandbarbara | 02/02/2013 |
Walk from Jubilee Tower. Snow underfoot and very cold wind. Surface water frozen so quite easy going. Return via Goldsworthy sculptures. | Argentum66 | 20/01/2013 |
From High Salter to NW, via track running to col below Whire Hill. Onward over Wolfhole Crag to Ward's Stone via interminable bog (some good path but not the track shown on map). both trigs and steeply back to start via Gallows Hill and Mallowdale farm to start. | nordicstar | 14/10/2012 |
