Out through along the forest path from Hasty Bank, and back along the tops, and then on to Urra Moor. A truly glorious day. Nipped up this one from the road. A large visitors center is being built here with gift shop, toilets, tea room, coach park and pay and display car park no doubt. I'm sure it will all be built to the greatest environmental standards but shouldn't motorway services be on motorways? Or perhaps the motorway is phase 2. What were the planners thinking when they granted permission? How is this compatible with the role of a National park to protect the country side from development? {sorry about the rant)mindlessflogger05/09/2013

Strong winds blew me up from Lord Stones Cafe free car park (NZ524030) along obvious path. Sat at viewpoint halfway up, walked some more along the path and then on scrub to the cairn. Going back was tough against 40mph winds! Excellent food and beer in caNick17/01/2006

After Urra Moor and lunch break at the car we followed the Cleveland Way to this peak. Lovely views north along the hilly ridge. The summit trig was reached - but a fantastic view was had on the northern cliffs.ChinnockC30/05/2004
We continued along the Cleveland way to the top of this grand viewpoint. The route was very well built to avoid erosion.chinnock30/05/2004

Solo trip from L's at Leeds. Around N Y Moors doing Marilyns, sub-Marilyns, County Tops and even an aborted attempt on a Treble zero down jungle and crumbling shale cliffs to the coast. Had not quite detoured the extra 50 metres to this summit when doing the C to C which bypasses the summit hence this return to put the matter straight. Chatted to a paraglider which is big on this escarpment waiting for the 8 knott wind to become a steady 10. Soaring skills are required to enable a ridge landing as there is no permission to land in the fields way below and it's a long walk back up to the cafe / car park where a lot of paragliders seem to spend a lot of time waiting for the right conditions (parallels with climbing)Chris Pearson20/04/1997

Chop Gate- Cold Moor- Cringle Moor- Carlton Bank- Green Howe- Chop Gate. On ridges and high ground all the way, the feel of wild country though always views of valleys and farms. Only blemish to crossing the road before Carlton Bank, choked with cars and noisy with motorcycle scrambling. Sunny with a few hail showers; snow lining the side of walls and in paths which are little grooves away from the Cleveland Way so wet feet today. Views extensive including Pennines above Teesdale.pwheeler15/03/1987
