Parked for free in Weobley car park near to free toilets. Made a 6 mile walk going via the Castle mounds in both directions. Muddy fields, but normal fort his terrain, time of year and with the recent level of rainfall. Easy access to Trig point and hp. Solo.gbeniston16/02/2024
Had good wander around the two potential summit areas (plus trig) - I think that the current HP is the correct one but there is no dense tree cover in December so recommend the tamperers pay a visit.assynt_bob24/12/2023
Parked in a small layby by a gate on B4230, just S of Shoals Bank to the W of the hp. There seemed at least a permissive path straight up the hill to the start of the woods (usual fp circular disks on post too obsured by time) walking back up the road towards Shoals Bank and shown as the start of a track on the map. Muddy zigzag track in the woods to firstly trig and then the hp. Disturbed about a dozen deer around the hp. Very pleasant top at dusk. Solorichard6905/11/2023
2/3 Marilyn's . Hegdon Hill, Burton Hill and Shobdon Hill.Longwojo11/06/2023
Last bag of the year on the drive from the Brecons back to York. Started from the right of way on the road at Shoals Bank, but I wouldn’t recommend it, the parking is extremely sketchy. Followed the right of way steeply up the hillside; maybe a route best left for the drier months, as wet leaves on top of wet mud does not make for a relaxing ascent!Rockdoctor31/12/2022
with Figgy. I will remember the fully laden apple tress in the small orchard next to the FP gate at start of walk from Shoals Bank. Wear trousers.mazz16/10/2022
A very pleasant walk from Weobley on a lovely sunny afternoon. Up through Garnstone Park, quick visit to the eastern 285m top, then westwards along the track to the trig and summit. Back to the village the same way, other than using the lower path around the edge of the woodland which gives great views of the Radnor Forest hills. Quite a few folks out and about in the fields, but very quiet in the woods.thesweetcheat24/09/2022
From gate to the north. Alternative summit and trig also visited.Alan Caine14/06/2022
On bike from Hereford to Ledbury. Ascent from paths to North. Nice bluebells.davechaffey30/04/2022
Very limited parking at start of fp so parked at more ample area half a mile south, up track over bw-gate turned left on track to join where fp comes up. Saw a kite. Pleasant woodland, arbitrary hp and no views, also visited trig.Nick Canute04/04/2022
Parked in the layby by the gate on B4230 few hundred metres South of Shoals Bank, path arrow on gate. Across field to meet track then followed the footpath signs around track and up hill to summit (no feature except trees), then to trig. Made a 2.7 mile circuit out of it by taking the path north and then west and then back along road.JulieB27/03/2022
Parked at end of lane at 416488. Followed PROW along track then through field. Stiles poor condition. Path contiunes through woods. USe the permissive path that continues straight to summit. Nice walk with views. Saw huge hawk at edge of woodland. Not a red kite or buzzard.Pete West14/02/2022
Parked in the small layby by the gate a couple of hundred yards S of Shoals Bank. Visited the trig and the summit. I do like woodland trigs, though I realise that negates their original purpose.paulhilder24/08/2021
Followed Jamie's route upStevooo29/07/2021
The B4230 southbound from the very picturesque village of Weobley finds you a farmers gate with space for a couple of cars, just south of the public footpath to the summit. Parked outside the gate, to find it's a public bridleway so followed that up. A perfect hill - the path is a gentle incline, cleared of pesky vines and brambles, and utterly peaceful apart from an inquisitive squirrel following me. Trig marker easily found, foliage provides little to no view, but a very beautiful place to visit - especially when combined with a visit into Weobley village itself.jamiequackers19/07/2021
park 3887 4917 permissive path nw to main row then path to flat summit so wander around a bit then tp and return same way 45 minsunderhill28/06/2021
Pleasant walk from the end of the road at SO 4155 4877. HP a short way beyond the Trig point. No views due to the trees.DanMaisieBex02/06/2021
Short walk from the junction of the B4230 and A480 - a bus stop on the 461 route from Hereford to Kington.Mark Jackson17/04/2021
1 x grass parking adjacent to gate at SO415487 (No parking at Shoals Bank). Good track all the way through Garnstone Wood, followed by short walk away from forest track.Isbjorn14/04/2021
Parked near gate and FP sign. Up to Shoals Bank then good track to trig and then back up to HP just of of ‘path’PeterD18/10/2020
B road parking, pasture, forest, top then back again.Play2End10/10/2020

Better than expected in Sep, tracks and paths- even those to HP were passable to good. Overall, a pleasant bag from Shoals Bank. I actually started from the gate S on the road, tempted by the access waymarks there. Up by steep fp thru wood, little trods to HP, back via Trig Pt and gently slanting tracks.pwheeler04/09/2020
Parked on main road near gate to field. Found trig point in woodland at top. Very nice hillketzster22/06/2020
Good parking in Weobley. About an hour up and an hour down. Lovely walk.gettingonabit17/05/2020
Ascent from Shoals Bank after some time exploring the pretty village of Weobley. My daughter & partner accompanied me so had to endure a bit of grumbling as we worked our way up the overgrown brambly tracks! Redeemed myself by getting them to the beautiful bluebell carpeted woodland on top! My advice would be to complete this summit in April or early May so that you can get the benefit of the bluebell spectacle before the brambles take over the ascent trails through the woodland completely!Gerry the Ranger16/05/2020
MCMartin6605/05/2020
Started from B-road at Shoals Hill. Decent path to summit area, then along ridge and down to Weobley village.IanHHill20/03/2020
P a few hundred m S of Shoals Bank. Summit(s) in open wood - quite a nice setting.ger23/12/2019
Very enjoyable wooded top to finish off the day with.Alex C09/12/2019
With Eire & Alfie. Visited the trig too. Public footpaths, so no trespass concerns.Dangerous Dave12/08/2019
Not an easy ascent for me. The defra path led into a field with cattle and calves- all edges of the field secured by live electric fences. Eventually made it to the top which is very disappointing. A tough end to my day.NormanW18/07/2019
Parked at So410500 in farm lane and followed marked paths to summit.Ramblingpaul07/07/2019
Up from Shoals Bank. Nice woodland and bluebells, probably not often visited.twg2725/05/2019
Parked car on verge at 415487 for a fairly flat walk along the RoW. (with Lyn)heavyhorses24/05/2019
Morning walk up from Shoals Bank. Lovely bluebell wood at top, choose spring - stunning carpet. Trig and summit areas visited.N.Morters30/04/2019
Defra path up from 388492. Lovely sunny day, no mud. The top of the hill was covered in bluebells....wonderful....worth climbing this hill in April, if you can!Clive G21/04/2019
Steep climb from Shoals Bank, fantastic bluebells at the top.RyParks21/04/2019

Straightforward from S of Shoals Bank. Slightly iffy parking there. Noticed a roomier field entrance a little further south.squeegs16/02/2019
2/5 Marilyn Day. Up from the road, for HP + Trig. 3km there and back, taking 50 minutes.silveracorn_alan31/10/2018
Nice woodland trail from the west. Would have been better if had not been so late in the day. A layby at the start would also have been helpful.Topographer5713/08/2018
With K from S of Shoals Bank as others have described.Ashley10/07/2018
5/11m parked at gate south of farm cut through field to pick up path to the tops.robertphillips20/10/2017
From the DEFRA track, about 200 m SW of the Shoals Bank entrance. Up the field track, then head left at the trees to find a walkers gate leading to the main track, up past a derelict house. Well marked footpath up through the woods, head right off piste to the summit. Nice stag at the summit. Quick visit to the trig as well. Very little mud, lucky me.Gill12/10/2017
From Schoals Bank via footpath to summit and trig point.Winterfloodian07/10/2017
From gate south of Shoals Bank marked as DEFRA path. Up and back with a bit of bushwhacking on ascent.SS19/03/2017
We found it hard to park so made quick ascent from field gateway to SW. Small herd of fallow deer at summit.trimarc223/01/2017
With OCH, Simon & children. Misty day – only just too low to get out of inversion. Out and back from Shoals Bank. Rounsfell31/10/2016
From NW. Much less muddy than last time. Nice woodland with deer.jenx06/10/2016
Repeat w Jenx. Parked at roadside by the Private Road sign. Lovely walk up on a sunny morning, past a bountiful orchard and into woods. New tracks meant no md like last time. Look for FP going off on right, crosses a spur from the main track and the path then goes directly uphill between trig and summit top. Lots of brambles in places so not one for the shorts ;-)nordicstar06/10/2016
Footpath from Weobley. Visited trig point and summit, both not far from the forest tracks. Returned same way.davidpettit8428/08/2016
From gateway and using permissive path as described by gerrybowes and others. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/burton-hill-and-hedgon-hill.htmlGayle30/06/2016

From 424488 had to park in forestry track entrance. Couple of locked gates to get over, followed forestry track thro Ostey Wood, up muddy track to edge of wood, across fields & into Garnstone Wood. Track goes within a few metres of trig summit one of the bumps a few hundred metres further. Plenty of deer & Bluebells.CodyleCoyote18/02/2016

After visiting TP.Dusty19/11/2015
Much easier than expected. Parked on grass verge at Shoals Bank (to NW) and followed POW (ignore Private Drive sign - FP very overgrown and rejoins driveway in a few meters!). Feint path leads towards the top itself.carole engel18/08/2015
Parked in gateway at 126m spot height. Headed west, then through Garnstone Park. Very muddy track. Summit in an area of robust brambles. Trig point lower down. Headed past it and along more muddy tracks towards Ostey Wood. Couldn't find a sensible descent through the forest so continued along the lane to return by tarmac. With Martin Scoular (5/5).Phreerunner17/03/2015
4/8 Easy track to follow to top. The trig pillar is lower down and around 400 metres away to east or soFergalh06/01/2015
Used the path from the NW. The woods were quiet and dormant, but saw a herd of small deer on the way down. Lots of mud put us off doing a possible loop to the NE.mindlessflogger02/01/2015
Parked just off the road at 380495 and headed off through the field eastwards. A very muddy ascent for most of the way. With GB.bolton24/11/2014
Parked in gateway at SO38865 49165 – Headed up to top left-hand corner of field to pick up track – Followed track until N. of summit – S. up steep slopes to summit (Would probably have been better to stay on track & approach from NW) PMgerrybowes24/11/2014
Parked in gateway and used permissive access to cut onto path, summit also seems to have a permissive path.rhalstead19/07/2014
Parked in gateway at SO 38865 49165 Straight up hill, could not find any evidence of the path so traversed left to pick up ROW. Tracks and a path to the summit overgrown with brambles. Did not find Trig. Returned via B4320 as lane to permissive path across the field was overgrown with waist high nettles. Not a hill to do in shorts without a pole!tim74718/07/2014
With Val. parked on the B4230 and across field to woods and track. Tracks and a path to the summit overgrown with brambles. Did not find TP. down track to road that returns to B4230.mike.hoult09/07/2014

super squelchy today, no views either dull overcast day.. trig found easy enough and little bramble cover this time of year.. trenches dug here and there.. purpose unclear. top in undergrowth.stig_nest30/01/2014
Limited parking to the NW Shoals Bank. Track an absolute quagmire :-) Hacked up then summit area easier, top and trignordicstar15/11/2013
Highest point is in middle of wood. Activated SOTA with M6PYG Geoff Fielding. Parked on verge of the B4230 near Shoals Bank - track up from there is a private road. It took us 20 minutes to reach the highest point in the middle of the wood at SO 3940 4876.G4OBK (Phil)14/07/2013
Parked on the corner of Ostey wood and followed the footpath over 2 gates by a field of sheep and then over a wobbly style. If you take a dog, you need to be able to lift them over! Through woodland to trig point. Summit is a bit further on, but stunning woodland & plenty of deer & bluebells.hmt100026/05/2013
Parked on verge at SO415487 and followed track west through beech woods. Summit area is oak with good carpet of bluebells. Plenty of deer in evidence.milimana19/05/2013
Started on the B4230 by Shoals Bank. A bit of doubt as to the true summit due to the ground coverage (visited them all to be safe), the trig point is on the opposite side of the path to that marked on the map.JohnStoneham01/07/2012
Parked on road at 390495 (16:45) and walked up track then path into woodland and steeply to highest point in trees. Didn\'t see trig pt. Back by same route. Weather dry. Finish 17:30dbb15/03/2012
Parked at track entrance at SO 41028 50020. Exceedingly pleasant walk to summit through Garnstone Park on public rights of way. Beautiful bluebell covered summit area in wood.David Gradwell27/04/2011
Followed the string of way marks, like a holding a handle bar up to the trig from Shoals Bank. Thus ended two day cycle expedition bagging Marilyns.Eddie17/04/2011
I also went up from Scholes Bank where there is a path through the field in addition to up the track. A herd of ten deet crossed infornt of me going up thrugh the woods. Visited trig first then top.Father Ted27/03/2011

From W, track across fields past huge hollow oak, into wood. Track to summit area which is heavily wooded, thick undergrowth, and a trig. Summit debatable.Aye Jimmy19/08/2006
Perhaps it was just that I had been out since 07:30 in high temperatures and extreme humidity and it was now 20:15 but I really did not enjoy this one.At least it finished the Welsh Borders for meM0ZZO22/07/2006

Managed to park on the B4230 just south of Shoals Bank. From there the top was easily reached via good paths. The actually top was to be found amongst not to dense mixed woodland.garyhoney16/03/2002
Date is first visit. Notes from later...summit in decid wdld, avoid direct ascent from FP - bramble horror (retrnd SW via Yazor Wd to 387483). track then FP from 389495, follow to ridge then double back NW to summit TP RHW10/10/1999
