Anticlockwise loop from Meldon Reservoir via Black Tor, High Willhays and Yes Tor. Short steep ascent up Black tor and on to High Willhays. Wet, windy and boggy but not overly challenging. Lovely views at the start of the journey in particular | muzza2 | 17/03/2024 |
Parked at Okehampton Camp. Headed up the military road then cross country to the summit of West Mill Tor. A few tiny patches of snow left on this hill. Then on to Yes Tor where above 550metres there was still a covering of snow on the north eastern slopes. Visited trig and then across to the summit of High Willhays where there was a patchy covering. Although never known the ground as wet as this. Mostly dry with a bit of sun. Good views. Time taken 2 hours 45 minutes for 6.5 miles. Raven, Meadow Pipits, Stonechats seen. | isabelle | 24/02/2024 |

From Meldon Quarry CP: West Mill Tor, Yes Tor and High Willhays. Thick cloud, rain, high winds and no views at summits. Had to turn out as we'd come all the way from Manchester to bag these Nuttalls. | Lazylizzie | 18/11/2023 |
Parked SX 60091 91142 at end of driveable road. SIMMS on Dartmoor: Hangingstone Hill > Cut Hill > High Willhays. Progress on tracks much faster than off them. Boggy and rough ground everywhere. | Peter_W_Mitchell | 24/08/2023 |

My 300th tump! Parked at Meldon Reservoir CP. Intended to stick to paths marked on OS map, but found unmarked track that followed Red-a-ven Brook upstream to about 500m height before taking direct route to Yes Tor then simple trudge to the summit. No views unfortunately as low cloud and got soaked on the way down. Came back via Black-a-Tor Copse with very mossy trees. Path to N of Meldon Reservoir is blocked off. With Felix | RoguePulsar | 30/06/2023 |
Parked at car park we went through a gate down the path then next to a lake then followed path near a viaduct then went next to the stream which we followed until we cut across a field up a rocky field to the top of Yes Tor then went across to the top. With Dad. | speedyclimber | 30/06/2023 |
From the cattle grid by the camp | Stevooo | 26/06/2023 |
Easy run up along the military roads from Okehampton Camp to Yes Tor, High Willhays and then on to Dinger Tor. Time taken 70 minutes for 7.5 miles and only 1065feet of ascent | isabelle | 25/06/2023 |
Travelled from Kent to Plymouth to see Muse and broke up the drive with a stop off at Dartmoor. Parked at the reservoir and went cross country up, making sure to look out for skylark nests. Very few people around apart from a couple of walkers and some army guys at the top. Gorgeous day, over 30 degrees. Really liked this climb. Not too high, some obstacles but nit too many, and fantastic views. Interesting rock formations at summit. | MysteriousSue | 27/05/2023 |

A North Western Dartmoor circuit, from Okehampton Station, visiting Rowter, West Mill Tor, Yes Tor, High Willhays - now listing as my 600th Marilyn - and East Mill Tor. | RobB | 01/04/2023 |
Long walk taking in some of the major summits in the NW of Dartmoor. No access issue, thorough soaking of Mike Tuft, Jacob Partington and I over an arduous 25km. | hjb68 | 30/03/2023 |
From public road end by Okehampton Camp (SX591931), SW along tarmac roads to ca SX589913, continuing on good stony tracks to ridge S of Yes Tor, then S along ridge to summit, returning same way (2h30m) | kdbennett | 24/03/2023 |
From Sourton up the West Okement valley forded the river just north of Black-a tor copse. Up to Fordsland Ledge. Good covering of snow on the tops with the blue skies and no wind was superb up there today. To High Willhays summit then Yes Tor and down to Vellake Corner back to Sourton. Time 3.5 hours for 8.5 miles 1871 feet of ascent. | isabelle | 21/01/2023 |

Direct from Meldon Reservoir dam, past the ponies on Longstone Hill to Yes Tor and High Willhays. The sun came out, so also made a bee-line for East Mill Tor, returning back to the dam car park over Okehampton Common. | summitter | 14/04/2022 |
2 of 3 on 5.7 mile walk starting at rowter car park having stayed the night in the camper. Across from yes tor. Didnt stay long as the winds were quite dramatic. Very bleak looking landscape. Marilyn no. 54 | The-Z-Man | 02/09/2021 |
Ascended from Meldon Car Park via Yes Tor on a clear, dry August day. High Willhays is a very attractive county top. The view across Dartmoor and to Black Tor is a highlight. Returned by following the West Okement river to Meldon Reservoir; a beautiful route in summer albeit with some leaps to make to avoid getting wet. | hillbagger91 | 23/08/2021 |
Walked up High Willhays and Yes Tor with my cousin as part of the County Top challenge. My cousin's first mountain walk which he really enjoyed despite absolute awful rain and bad wind. | DavidHiner | 12/08/2021 |

Started at Meldon Car Park and it was very low cloud. Glad to have a GPX file as could not see summits. Took in Yes Tor and Black Tor. Sun came out once back at the reservoir. 6.77 miles round trip | madsam | 08/09/2020 |
Climbed solo. Cloudy but mostly dry day except one light shower on ascent of Yes Tor and some drifting mist. Parked at Meldon Reservoir car park (£2 charge). Crossed dam and used the track which winds around Longstone Hill. At around 425m contour, I turned east for Yes Tor summit, following initially an indistinct path. The summit has a flag pole and trig point on a small tor. Easy walk south along the ridge to Devon's highest point, High Willhays, which was marked by cairn topped by a graceful tower of tiny stones! Fine views of surroundings, especially the bleak terrain to the south. Strongly reminiscent of Pennines or Cheviots. Stayed high on mostly pathless terrain to Dinger Tor and Lints Tor before descending to the upper valley of the West Okement River. The valley is boggy at first but a small path soon appears. Passed an enchanting stunted oak forest and a wooded gorge before reaching the reservoir and return to car. | jamessteel100 | 16/08/2020 |
Walked with eldest son (17) from the car park at Meldon Reservoir. Weather warm with some low cloud but also patches of sunshine. Went to Yes Tor first then on to High Willhays. Descent enlivened by youth hostel ringing at 7.53pm to say check in was by 8pm not 10pm due to Covid. Thankfully they let us in when we got there at about 9.25pm. | clyoung | 06/08/2020 |

Run from Meldon Reservoir. Warm and sunny day! | dave_mole | 22/07/2020 |
Run up from the east side of Meldon Reservoir followed a stream to the east of Homerton Hill up on to the plateau. Ran slowly across the open moor to High Willhays. Close to the stream I saw a Grey Wagtail higher up there were a few Crows and plenty of Skylarks. Had a chat on the summit and enjoyed the view. Could clearly see the North Devon coastline and the sea. Ran easily to Yes Tor where I said hello to a couple hunkered down in the rocks. Easy run back to the start across the trackless moor. Saw my first Wheatear of the year. Time taken an hour for 4 miles. | isabelle | 14/06/2020 |
Parked at Meldon Reservoir, 12k circular walk up to Black Tor, onto High Willhays then Yes Tor.
Clear windy day with amazing views from Yes Tor. | jarmin45 | 01/02/2020 |
Round of Hangingstone Hill, Cut Hill, High Willhays and Yes Tor from parking at East Okement Farm. Torrential rain. Solo round in fell running gear but not possible to run on much due to difficulty of terrain (uneven clumps of grass). Several water crossings. Deep mud in parts. 14 miles total in 4hrs 15min. | axoree | 19/12/2019 |

After Yes Tor, from Res CP. | Andrew Pearson | 02/09/2019 |
Run from Sourton Church up over Sourton Tors along the old railway to Great Links Tor. I t took me a few minutes to remember the easiest climb to the actual summit which was very easy as the only technical move is low down. I headed on to the remains of Bleak House. I remember camping by it in 1990 and it was a lot more substantial then. I took the path up to Kitty Tor. The cloud broke and it was warm in the sunshine. I headed down to Sandy Ford and then up High Willhays and Yes Tor before running back to Sourton via the top end of Meldon reservoir. For the 11 miles it took 2 hours 30 minutes. I saw Wheatear, Linnets, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Buzzard, Kestrel and Ravens. | isabelle | 04/08/2019 |
With Lizzy, 8-9 mile circular route from Meldon Reservoir (£2 needed for car park), up Yes Tor then down along West Okement River. Riverside route rough and boggy in places. Nice views from summit. | Eliza100 | 01/08/2019 |

Visited on a day exploring a few directions from Sourton Tor. Solo. | meltdiceburg | 18/02/2019 |
Not exactly the most beautiful walk. Started at Meldon Reservoir. Cloud base was approx 350m so didn't have any views. Nice to practic navigation skills though. Marched up Longstone Hill, then cross country to meet the Yes Tor - High Willhays track, up to HW, then over to YT, then back on the tracks/paths via Black Down. Beware that there seem to be some extra tracks which are not marked on OS; it would be easy to get pretty lost in the fog if you're not concentrating! The pool at SX564922 is worth a short detour. | jkl | 30/12/2018 |

From Meldon Reservoir car park - Windy Cloud down with persistent rain - Longstone Hill - Black Tor - Why are wee doing this? Over the rough grasses /faint tracks we find High Willhays summit cairn not realising we are there. Finding Yes Tor (& Trig) beyond we return to the summit and then head back down across Oakhampton Common. Still windy, in cloud and very wet. The joys of hill walking. Trip to Clovelly afterwards. | briandavies | 29/07/2018 |

Climbed in glorious conditions as part of a 26.8 Km circuit of all Dartmoor 600m hills, starting from Row Tor car park. Blue skies, hot sun, infinite visibility. Fast track heading south to Hangingstone, peat bog to Whitehorse, then very tiring high tussock grass over the side of Black Hill and up to Cut Hill. On return leg, high tussock grass to Dinger, then easy walking to High Willhays, Yes, and return to Row Tor. A fabulous solo walk. | Dartmoorman | 22/06/2018 |
Good walk up on a warm sunny day. | gettingonabit | 17/05/2018 |
Meldon Reservoir car park - Yes Tor - High Willhays - Sandy Ford - Great Links Tor and back. Great loop, mostly pathless and sometimes v boggy. Fabulous views. | twg27 | 26/04/2018 |
A county top outing of six mile's taking three hours from the free car park at Meldon reservoir. The route first went over Black tor onto High Willhays finishing on Yes tor before descending to the reservoir car park. Parts between Black tor and High Willhays, and from Yes tor to the reservoir are pathless. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 21/04/2018 |

A splendid walk from Meldon reservoir, straight up the hillside on lovely easy grass, then via Black Tor on the track, and off piste across the bogs to the top. Nice stroll back to Yes Tor, then lovely descent off piste on dry mossy grass. Hugely enjoyable. | Gill | 26/01/2018 |

Walked up from Meldon reservoir car park. Followed the track around Longstone Hill. Continued up to Yes Tor and along the ridge to High Willhays. Rather bizzarely, got pestered by bees while at the summit - where did they come from? Fine views from the top. Back down via Black Tor through some boggy patches and boulder fields to the river valley, then back to car park. Took about 4 hours. | The Gardener | 10/08/2017 |

When I arrived at Meldon Reservoir at 9am there was only one other car in the car park, though it was full when I returned. I took the lane down to the dam, crossed it and followed a track which soon turned inland and uphill, gradually curving southwards and with the flagpole on Yes Tor already visible. High Willhays is two metres higher and there is a track between the two, but a herd of cattle sat on it, so I took lower ground to the east before emerging on the summit. Not having walked here before, I looked at the impressive panorama dotted with tors on each skyline but recognised nothing, an unusual feeling. I headed down towards Black Tor but found myself some way south of it and had more cattle to avoid before picking up the track by which I had ascended, now in glorious late morning sunshine. | peter4lc | 12/08/2015 |

from resv.. a nice easy walk to the long planned, eagerly anticipated summit of Dartmoor - the most southerly of the hewitts. only 29 to go now.
summit is not quite a typical Dartmoor tor in that the top isn't that much of an outcrop. returned via the ancient woods and the naughty naughty no access path. | stig_nest | 28/06/2015 |
Windy, cold and the summit was up in the clouds (ca. 20m visibility) - did it the old way - map, compass and pacing - just to be sure that I still can. Ponies decided that I looked enough like the farmer to be worth chasing... perhaps he has food in that big bag | M3WDD | 26/06/2015 |
