From the FC car park. Trig point hidden in the trees. Not immediately obvious from the track. Took in the FC loop walk to get a view.islamidget26/09/2023
From the free Forestry Commission car park to the SE. Circular walk along the hardcore path to the trig point, then looping back further east on the track at the bottom of the slope. Overcast. With Gillianrichard6928/07/2023
Stopped off for a nice walk to break up the journey on the way down to the south coast for a camping trip. Beautiful woodland and nice easy walk from Staple Hill car park...although you may need a GPS to find the trig as it's not immediately obvious which direction to go to get to highest point.Gerry the Ranger01/06/2023
With Lesley. From car park to south east. Trig can be seen fairly easily in woods from nearby path, small cairn on top presently.Nick Canute23/05/2023
Cloudy and cool walk in from the west. Trig well hidden as always. Dark and foreboding feel up there tonight. Time taken 25 minutes for 1.4 miles. Saw a Buzzard.isabelle27/03/2023
As others from the car park. Used GPS to spot the trig. Came round the bottom of the hill to make a massive 1.7mile loop out of it. Bottom path quite muddy in parts. 1 of 3 for the day.JulieB24/02/2023

Very popular spot. Walked over from the free car park to the SE.Dangerous Dave09/01/2022
On a circular solo walk from Buckland St Mary. Visited the fine Castle Neroche Iron Age hillfort, then followed the East Dene Way for a bit before diverting onto the bridleway up Staple Hill. Easy walking on forestry paths. Ended up going clockwise around the south side of the summit wood before accessing from the west. The trig was easy enough to find due to the paths made by other baggers, crossing the wet and muddy ditch from the forestry track was the hardest part. From there I headed to Greenland and up to the ridge to visit Robin Hood's Butts (north and south) Bronze Age barrows, then back to Buckland St Mary via Bishopswood. A good day out.thesweetcheat14/08/2021
Here for the trigpoint TP:UK log: Walked up large track through field and through gate. Easy walk in the fading light. Long horn cattle surprised me as no signs anywhere!thejackrustles10/06/2021

Third of 3: Mendips, Quantocks, Blackdown Hills on way to Cornwall with J. Superb weather. From the parking area off the minor road to S of hill. Followed the path N then turned L along edge of forest. At end went half L, through metal gate & dropped slightly to meet another track. L up a short rise to a small clearing with a strange mound of earth, then another 50m further on just before the track bends to L, a very faint muddy trail appears on L heading into the trees. This led to the trig, hidden in the bracken. Retraced route back detouring to take in the waymarked viewpoint.NotReallyABagger25/09/2020
3/5 From forest car park to E. Added on loop w viewpoint, visit to see rare breed cattle. Long search for trig in high bracken! Rounsfell27/06/2020
Covered all possible high points.andrew brown24/06/2020
From Forestry England Carpark SE of trig. Bridleway beside dyke to intersect with another bridleway in mixed woodland. Trig just visible 100 yards into woodland from path. Proud trig in fine fettle, a bit lost and lonely in this unremarkable spot. Don't miss taking a peep from the view point to north of car park.Pete West21/02/2020

From the car park to the SE. Nice walk used by many dog owners but none ventured to the trig in the trees as I did.NormanW11/02/2019
Stroll up from the car park. Very windy the rain cleared to give some brightness. Saw a Raven and a Grey Squirrel.isabelle08/02/2019
From gate entrance just beyond the 9 of the 299 spot height on 1:50000. Short stroll up track, row appears to avoid a wee bit of the track, but friendly gates so stayed on track. Just before trig a pile of stones/cairn is located on the S of the track. Trig more or less due south.iangalbraith07/01/2019
Ran up from Staple Fitzpaine. Had a bit of bother finding the trig point. Initially looked on ground to South East. Went back to track and checked co-ordinates finally discovering it behind a fallen tree and bracken. Continued to Castle Neroche before fast descent back down the road to the car. Time 1 hour 30 for 8.25 miles. Dull and dreary day and cool only 6c but no wind. Views non existent. Saw Buzzard Kestrel Magpie Great and Blue Tit . Heard plenty of Jays.isabelle25/11/2018

From designated car park, tracks to gate in BWF. Then if you forgot your GPS good luck finding the trig among the beech and bracken.Topographer5711/08/2018
Large, free Forestry car park to the SE. If in no hurry, take the loop walk first which takes in a couple of viewpoints. then, when the loop starts it's return journey take a path to the right into the trees and up to the top.moorsman05/08/2018
From CP south of Taunton at 246159, take path N for 100m, then turn left and follow easy path NW. At path junction, continue through gate then take wide path on left and gently uphill. After short distance, there is a clearing at the high point of the track. From the small mound in the clearing, facing into the wood, the trig point lies at about 2 oClock, 75m through the trees. With Sue and Meg.Dartmoorman27/07/2018
