From Wooton Courtenay. From bend in road steep up, back down via rail bridleway. Top in the trees.tallblond27/09/2023
Exmoor's 3 Marilyns. Parked in the long stay car park in Porlock (£5.50 all day card/cash). Out to Porlock's shingle beach ridge, along to the very end of the beach to fp ascending to SWCP, Bossington Hill, Selworthy Beacon (hazy views across to South Wales), Periton Hill, Dunkery Beacon and back via the small church at Stoke Pero. Good to see the complete conifer clearance and new broadleaf replanting by the NT in Doverhay Coombe - although it looks a little spartan now, give it 5 years or so to get going. Rain finally arrived on the approach to Dunkery Beacon along with the low cloud so no views. With Gillian.richard6927/07/2023

Parked at start of bridle way in Marsh Cross. Pleasant walk on forest tracks to the trig. High point a bit further on in the trees. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/01/2022
Solo. Early morning out & back walk along Macmillan Way West from Dunster up Knowle Hill and across Wootton Common. Good views from forest track of Minehead to the north. Exact high point tricky to find in trees.millionmts30/08/2021
Nipped up on a pre-parkrun bimble. Parked in lay-by on A39 near where Periton Lane meets the road. Ascended on bridleway - steep-ish at points but very easy to follow. High point in trees but didn’t bother with trig. Distracted on way down by runners on Coast-to-Coast so missed turn and added half-a-mile…ewangibb8724/07/2021
Pleasant walk from Wootton Courtenay with H, S and G. My 7th and final Somerset Marilynpaulhilder17/07/2021
Parking in Wootton Courtenay was tricky...found a safe space eventually though on setting off I found that the car park at the village hall (937434) has a large empty car park. Lovely walk through mixed forest of beech and pine. Even the area that looks open just N of the trig point has young birch trees so no views from there...the best path for views seems to be the footpath between 940449 and 944437, from which Dunkery Beacon looks majesticClive G06/06/2021
Parked in Wootten Courtenay up the fairly steep ascent to the woods and trigStevooo23/04/2021
Minehead - Selworthy Beacon - Knowle Top - Dunkery Beacon - Periton Hill - Minehead.Mark Jackson10/04/2021
From Wooton Courtenay via Macmillian Way West. Walk up fro village nice, but unappealing bag in plantation conifer woodland. Tiarnan and I decided high point lay beneath a tree, which we circled a couple of times for good measure.Pete West10/10/2020
Just under a mile up hill along the MacMillan Way from Wooton Courteney church (6, 10).Newton Maximus23/09/2020
Parked at Wooton Courteney village hall & followed track directly to summit. Useful to have a GPS with you to get exact high point. Steep trail initially but gradually eases. Enjoyable walk.Gerry the Ranger05/07/2020
1/5 Parked just off A39 at start of lane to Wootton C. Out and back with slight loop at top. Shower on way up, breezy. Rounsfell28/06/2020
from Dunster via Grabbist Hill, then down to Wootton Courtenay. Left my walking pole on seat in W C'y.IanHHill05/10/2019
Nipped off the path into woods to highest point i could register while on the Brendon Incline Challenge Event.fosal2917/08/2019
From limited street parking Wootton Courtenay. Up signposted route to east end of village, over small field then up on track/path. Final jump into woods to search for highest vague ground. Marilyn 4/7N.Morters27/04/2019
Up the very muddy bridleway from the village hall at Wootton Courtenay. Descent by footpaths and through field with 2 stiles.NormanW10/02/2019
From village hall car park. Slightly grumpy person opening hall said it was all right to park. Offered a donation to the hall fund, declined but raised a friendly smile. Track from hall completely dug up including the centre, so obviously deliberate. All now dry mud. Returned via track through trees more or less directly south. Cleaner but forestry warnings.iangalbraith06/01/2019
A DAMP DAY BUT DECIDED TO ROUND OFF THE EXMOOR MARILYNS. NIPPED UP AND BACK DUNKERY BEACON FROM THE NEAREST CAR PARK IN WIND AND DRIZZLE. DID THE SAME WITH PERITON HILL FROM WOOTTON COURTENAY IN THE DRY - USED GPS TO FIND THE TOP IN THE FOREST. FINISHED ON SELWORTHY BEACON FROM NEAREST POINT ON ROAD. GOOD VIEWS.BURGESS06/12/2018
The car park at the village hall in Wootton Courtenay has a small sign (and even smaller lettering which cannot be read as one drives in) stating that it is not for use by the public for parking. There is limted roadside parking in the village.Isbjorn02/11/2018
5/6 Marilyn Day in the SW. Steep walk up from the north.silveracorn_alan01/11/2018
From Periton on circuit of bridlways to trig point and summit. Westetly track is almost entirely in the woods, but good views in places as we descended on easterly route.Winterfloodian17/09/2018
From Wootton Courtenay, up via Roadway Lane, back via Macmillan Way footpath. Both very steep.citygent13/08/2018
Direct from Wootton Courtenay. Steep in places but mostly easy.Topographer5708/08/2018
After Selworthy Beacon, Periton Hill is my second Marilyn today. Turned S off A39 at 955457 and continue S for 800m into forest and car park. I took the stone track heading SW and steadily gaining height until it intercepted the main MacMillan Way after 1400m. Continued W along broad path until obvious high crest where there is a slight clearing in the woods on your left. Large trig point atop a wall is unmissable on your left. Returned along MacMillan Way eastwards as far as Oway Corner where we turned N along a clear stone path to the car park. Some good views in another hot day, With Sue and Meg.Dartmoorman23/07/2018

Looks promising as you walk along the ridge but ultimately a bit disappointing.gettingonabit23/05/2018
Marilyn 1 of 7 today. Good weather. Solo. Parked at Village Hall (despite notice), up bridleway to summit area, thrashed through trees etc looking for highest potential ground and till gps read 0m, plus nipped over to trig.assynt_bob30/04/2018
Approached this one from the north, only because there was a geocaching trail that side of the hill and it was then on the right side to drive over to Selworthy Beacon afterwards. A very misty day but a pleasant climb nevertheless. Went to trig point first then around the corner to the high point.Father Ted12/04/2018
A rapid hack up from the Youth Hostel so that I could get back to get my punctured car tyre replaced. Easy walking on huge tracks. Wet and murky but decent views in places.Gill27/01/2018
Village Hall car park signed only for Hall users, so even with it empty we parked down the street a bit. Up the bridle way, down the trail (less muddy) nice loop.Nomad Perkins03/12/2017

Parked in the village hall carpark and then followed the footpath on the left of the hall. Easy walk up before scratching around in the trees to find the summit.Peterb30/09/2017
Walked from Bossington, via Horner, Webber's Post and Wootton Courtenay. After summit we visited trig point then on by Headon Cross to Selworthy BeaconAlanD07/09/2017

From centre of Minehead with Shaky on a warm but hazy day. Followed Macmillan Way for most of it, shortcutting along the bridleway across Hopcott Common to the trig point. Continued along the Mac Way & had a brief foray into the trees for the true summit, but being NotReallyABagger, avoided crawling about doubled up in the wood trying to bag the last 10cm... Continued on through Wootton Courtenay & Brockwell still following the Way to the summit of Dunkery Beacon. Then reversed the whole route back to Minehead.NotReallyABagger06/05/2017

5/7 Marilyns today. From Wootton Courtenay up row to summit in fairly dense growth then on to trig and back by Roadway Lane (very muddy). Hunt were on the hill - plenty bugles, horse and dogs about.SS04/02/2017
Parked just west of post office in lovely village of Wooton Courtenay and bought a Euro lottery ticket and won £3.70. heading east out of village took MacMillan Way West Path across field following it all the way to summit in forest. Well signposted and easy to navigate highest point is just off road in middle of pine forest apparently though difficult to tell so stood on highest point on side of road before visiting trig point slghtly further NNE. Could have returned down Roadway Lane but decided to pick up ascent route to return to village.mntainman20/12/2016
