es to Totland via Newport then a fun day in the wind and rain (it was drier in the afternoon) along muddy paths. Golden hill then straight onto the coastal path to Headon Hill, past Needles Pleasure Park, then followed the road to Old Battery and Scratchell's Bay before heading up to West High Down and along to Tennyson Down.Buck14/01/2023
Parked for free in the large car park at the end of the road. Fun fair closed, but some shops and eateries were open. Anti-clockwise round of West High Down, Tennyson Down and Headon Hill.Minto13/01/2023

First of three on walk from Freshwater Bay to the Needles, Totland and back (free NT parking at Afton Down). A lovely sunny spring day.milimana25/03/2022
Found some (free) parking above Totland Bay and straight onto the coastal path to Headon Hill. Down to Needles Pleasure Park, its tackiness relieved only by the lovely shingle shore and multi-coloured cliffs below. Then we followed the road to Old Battery and Scratchell's Bay before heading up to West High Down and along the chalk path to Tennyson Down. By now refreshments were demanded, so we continued to Freshwater Bay. Duly satiated, we took the Freshwater Way path to Black Bridge then along the old railway line to the Red Lion next to the church, before heading west to School Green along a narrow walkway. This ran into Golden Hill Country Park and its summit fort. After a circle of the defensive bank we went along the red squirrel trail, popping up in Colwell and rejoining the coastal footpath to Colwell Chine, an ice cream stop, then Widdick Chine and back to the camper. A grand day out!summitter29/09/2021
Parked in car park at 325856, not a massive car park. Walked east on lower path towards freshwater Bay (orange route) then up onto ridge and along coastal path to Tennyson down. Then along ridge onto West High Down (Tump) and the Needles. Back around coastal path onto Headon Warren (Tump) then down to corner of B3322 and minor road, down Lane to pick up bridleway back to car.JulieB09/09/2021
From free NT carpark just north of summit. Extended the ascent by following footpath through woods towards Freshwater Bay, Then cut through woods on good, steepish track and approached summit along cliff edge from the east. KeithByTheC09/09/2021

First of 6 HuMPs planned for day straight from ferry at Yarmouth. Short steep ascent from National Trust Car Park Tennyson Down at end of Highdown Lane up well worn chalk path that emerges on to rounded top in sight of Tennysons monument. Lots of lumps and bumps to wander over but highest point looks to be just to east of monumentmntainman22/09/2020
