Hilton - Roman Fell - Long Fell - Tinside Rigg - Little Fell - Mickle Fell - Murton Fell - Scordale - Hilton. Unremarkable fellGary Heath13/07/2019
Arrived to bivvy the night near Charlie High at 10pm on 24th - still technically a firing day! Set off early morning on lovely sunny day which became too warm so ended up shirtless on upper slopes. Tinside was a much nicer summit than Long Fell I thought, with interesting huge hole passed on descent. Saw lots of scattered ordnance but no people.signyred25/05/2019
From public CP in Murton. Murton Pike -> the 2 Murton Fells -> Little Fell -> Tinside Rigg -> Long Fell -> Roman Fell. Pleasant 19k round in deep snow on a non-firing day.jonglew02/02/2019

ACW circuit from Hilton. Roman Fell, Long Fell, Tinside Rigg & Little Fell, then W into Scordale valley. Very quiet on fells, did not see anyone else - quite a pleasant walk, with good views. (13km,600m).ger25/08/2018
Seemed so close, added this to previous fell. Enjoyed leisurely lunch in sun before heading back down Swindale with its' twinkling river. Spotted a sparrowhawk then later a stoat(or was it a mink?).Peak Rambler25/08/2018
Start ~ Hilton. On a Non Firing Weekend, via Swindale bridle way to Tinside Rigg and Long Fell. With Wombourne & Pat.steve hudson14/07/2018
Parked in Hilton and followed the good track past the bridge then branched off up Swindale Edge to the summit. It was very hot and sunny. This was my final Nuttall, No. 445! We continued across the moorland to Long Fell passing at least a dozen shells lying in the heather. Descended back to Swindale Edge then the track back to Hilton. With SH and PR.wombourne14/07/2018
With Jo, circular walk from Hilton. Took track to quarry on zigzags south east of Roman Fell, then crossed moor to summit, then across moor to Long Fell and Tinside Rigg. Returned down path/track alongside Swindale Beck and Scordale Beck. Weather; sunny, very warm, good visibility.amblerbob07/07/2018
Warm and sunny morning for the walk up from Hilton using the long and winding track. Then onto Tinside Rigg before heading back to Roman Fell which I descended NE down to Swindle Beck.Dugswell206/05/2018

First ascent of 2018. From Hilton Village on paths. Small cairn of large rocks on rough grass. Drizzle and fog. Remains of stone walls hut nearby. No ammo seen.Small snow patches.Denise 01/01/2018
From Hilton via Swindale Beck on bridleway and then off to summit. Mist and light rain so no views.MichaelF20/10/2017
Up via Swindale - this hill summit is only a couple of hundred yards from the bridleway which becomes a bit indistinct here.johnjennison08/07/2017
Easy walk up Swindale Edge, which was unbelievably well signposted. Left the public ROW at GR 7776 2001. Pretty cloudy on top of Tinside Rigg. Easy jaunt over to Long Fell where I was disconcerted to see a pickup truck parked nearby! Had a little explore of the mines and then picked up the track down. Managed to resist Roman fell which looked very tempting. Lots of shooting and exercises could be seen and heard away in the distance at Warcop base itself which kept me entertained, not that I needed it as the views were good.tsharp07/07/2017

Climbed Long Fell and Tinside Rigg by the bridleway from Hilton on a Sunday Afternoon. Perfect weather and superb views towards Blencathra. No problems following bridleway with posts.BURGESS04/06/2017

Walked on my own from Hilton along Swindale Edge and Christy Bank then over Tinside Rigg, Long Fell and Roman Fell. Dry and pleasant. A bit breezy but the wind wasn't cold so it was fine. The walk up Swindale Edge is great, clear makers all the way. Make sure you check the access days for this fell as it is on Warcop MOD land.flockwatcher30/04/2017
From Hilton Village NY 73537 20761, via Christy Bank Bridle Path then onto Long Fell. Returned by same route.Westdenewalker29/04/2017
From Hilton w Jenx, free CP. Took the lane at first under Roman Fell and then a Quad track up the broad NW ridge, steepest towards top. Then in mist and on compass to Long Fell and Tinside Rigg. Great decent down the Bridleway and Swindale Beck and then the sublime Scordale.nordicstar08/01/2017
A nice little circuit. An interesting area.jenx08/01/2017
Final E/W Nuttall (again). Visited after Long Fell via West Top at 619m spot height. See Long Fell entry for route detailsSteveSmith05/01/2017
From Hilton out to Swindale Beck then well up row before cutting back to Roman Fell. Followed broad ridge back and over Long Fell and Tinside Rigg (English Nuttalls finished again)! Decided might as well break all the rules and did Little Fell again via the trig point. Great walk and didn't see a single bit of munitions.SS31/12/2016
From Hilton. Up Swindale, Tinside Rigg, Long Fell, then track round SW side of Roman Fell. Made sure I did all the minor lumps on the Tinside Rigg / Long Fell plateau. Top of Swindale is very lumpy with so many gills to cross. Saw the shell case on Long Fell. Non-firing day.Owen B06/11/2016

(Thanks for the slice of delicious cake, Anne.) Returned via zigzag track starting at NY 76486 19648. On way to Little Fell from Long Fell, passing an exploded shell case on minor summit and a fine upstanding stone with 1857 W inscribed. Column in summit photo has only lowest two layers left. Continued to Little Fell passing ruined sheepfold with old but unexploded shell lying there...Aye Jimmy07/07/2013

On the North Pennines AONB Little Fell access walk. Stone column appears to have collapsed or been dismantled and replaced by a pile of stone. Unaware that this was a Nuttall at the time, but reviewing my GPS log from the day shows that I went right over the summit!alistairpooler14/07/2012
