Reasonably easy going from the WNW, less so from the N - but I've probably been spoilt by the easy terrain of the high Lochnagar ridges. | RichardM | 18/04/2023 |
Cycled in to Glas Allt Sheil, then took the delightful Corrie Chash path, then Broad Cairn, back to the col for Sandy Hillock, unfortunately both were in cloud. some sort of old construction at top. | hils | 29/10/2022 |

Cairngorm Club meet. The road up Glen Muick was snow-covered but we got up to the coach park at the end of the road. The weather forecast was not good with very strong winds forecast, getting worse in the afternoon. In view of this I decided on Sandy Hillock. Walked along the track on the SE side of Loch Muick and the track that rises up the hillside, providing the prime route to Broad Cairn. There was new snow often lying on hard snow or ice. Went to the bothy at 256808 to get some shelter for a brief lunch. Used compass to head for Sandy Hillock as the visibility was not all that good. The summit area is rather flat so it is difficult to be sure which is the highest point. There is a cairn in the form of a shelter and three high posts; there are a few things attached but it is not clear as to the purpose. Visited a few other points that could be as high. | pwbellarby | 11/01/2015 |
From L.Muick, overcast, some sun, high cloud, cool wind, good views. | iangalbraith | 13/08/2013 |
Along with Dog Hillock. There are the remains of a radio aerial at the summit. Descent to Bachnagairn was very icy. | fasgadh | 02/12/2012 |
